24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are?

Bacon: Hello World! For those who do not know me I am Bacon aka Mr. B.L.T.  Rookie to the rap scene representing Opa Locka, Florida.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

Bacon: Growing up in Opa Locka, Florida my family pushed me more into sports such as football and basketball.  So before I was an artist I was an athlete.  But don’t get it twisted music has always been in my life.  I would always listen to music while practicing for my games.  Acting a fool and mimicking any artist I would listen to.  It wasn’t till about a year and half ago my homeboy BZ Moebucks had an opening slot for studio time and I contacted him regarding collaborating on his mixtape.  It was my first time in the studio and behind the mic.  We recorded a track that landed on the mixtape and its been history since then.  My music is what I eat and breathe.  I do this for my fans and to provide a better living situation for my family.  They made sure I had everything I needed growing up and now it’s time I return the favor.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

Bacon:  I grew up listening to Biggie, Philly’s Most Wanted, Mase, Outkast, Bone Thugs N Harmony, and T.I.  I wasn’t allowed to attend the concerts so I made sure I had their records.  I would come home and listen to them and stand in front of the mirror and mimic I was them.  I had a little bit of everything when it came to hip hop growing up.

24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

Bacon: Obviously my name lol!  Why bacon? That’s my last name and I figured why not be real to my roots plus I knew the name alone would grab a lot of attention.  Besides my name, I have only been in the rap scene for a little over a year and I have had the pleasure of opening for Bad Boy Artist MGK.  I have also released two mixtapes, B.L.T. (Beyond Lyrical Talent) and Welcome 2 Rockville.  My video Feel Me or Fear Me from my second mixtape has just been released on World Star Hip Hop.  I’m a versatile artist not afraid to combine different genres with my rap to make a new sound. I dare to be different.

24: Tell us about what you are working on?

Bacon: I am currently working on promoting my second mixtape , Welcome 2 Rockville, and releasing my second video Pieces. Im looking to book more performances and interview in hope to get my name out there and build a bigger fan base.  In a few months I will be working on B.L.T. Volume 2 but a release date has not been chosen yet.  My aim with that project is to be better than my last project.  To show growth to show promise.  I’m also looking for other artist to collaborate with.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

Bacon: Off my second mixtape I have worked with Low Tone Productions, Scrilla Beatz, JD Beatz, Diamond Style Productions, and P Beatz based out of Orlando, FL.  I also want to send a special shout out to the man who put the mixtape together my engineer Leo what it do! In the future I would love to work with J Staffz, Purp Beatz, Hit Boy, Kanye West, 40 (Drake’s producer) and Jim Jonsin.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

Bacon: Of course I am happy.  I am getting feedback which means I am being heard so obviously I am doing something right.  If you’re not getting feedback whether its positive or negative it means it time to get back in the studio and try something new or harder.  My material will change over time.  Some tracks will be better than others.  It’s about living, learning and growing.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name?

Bacon: To make yourself a household name you have to be well rounded.  Every aspect of your career has to be on point.  Your beats, your lyrics, your image, and overall your brand. You have to stay hungry.  There can’t be a day where you take a break because there’s that next upcoming artist that is trying to get that #1 spot.  But most importantly stay true to yourself.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

Bacon: I don’t agree when I hear Hip-Hop is dead.  Hip-Hop is changing and change is good.  New generation of artist have the opportunity to create their own sound while being influenced by old school hip hop and be themselves instead of having the pressure of being the next Michael Jackson, Biggie, or Run DMC.  So in reality the only pressure you have is being yourself.

24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on?

Bacon: To be honest, outside of music I take the time to focus on me.  You don’t realize how much music consumes you till you have a day to yourself.  I sit back and reminisce of everything I have done within these 2 years.  I count my blessings and stay humble.  You can easily lose yourself so I’m constantly finding myself, changing and growing as a person and as an artist.  I also take the time to work on my brand such as my image.  Thinking of new ways to reinvent myself.

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2013 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

Bacon: In 2013 I see myself more as a household name and an artist fans are more familiar with by raising the bar higher than I set it in 2012.  I plan on mixing all type of genres with my rap in hope to create a new sound  and a new feeling.  With that comes separation.  My recognition will come from my work ethics, my hunger, my grind, my sound, and my perseverance to continue even after I have made it.
