24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

Boom Blake: Well, I’m Boom Blake, I’m from New Jersey and I make music. That’s it in a nutshell to keep it basic. I’m really serious about music and I’m ready to introduce myself to the world. Hello world!

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

Boom Blake: My inspiration was in the 80’s my parents bought me a toy turntable that actually spun real vinyl. I had the Run DMC vinyl and would play the entire album for hours. Then Yo MTV Raps really put me in tune with the hip hop culture. I used to practice freestyling and imitating the rappers I would see on the show. I knew one day I could do the same thing.

24: What was the hip hop scene like for you growing up where your from

Boom Blake: Hip-Hop is everywhere here in New Jersey. Each and every corner there is an MC. We all would just go all over town and jump in every cipher we could. The MC’s out here are lyrical, it’s like if you weren’t saying something to slick and something serious nobody would even bother to listen. So we just had to spit hard.

24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

Boom Blake: I don’t listen to what’s on the radio when I decide the music I want to make. I make the type of music that appeals to me, stuff I want to hear that isn’t being done. I try to make them big anthems that will last, if its something heart felt or if its a street anthem I make music that I can continue to blast in the whip for years. A lot of people just make music that they think will sell or get play in the clubs, yea that’s cool but sometimes when people do that they go out of their element and you can hear it in the music. I just make music that I feel and people like me can feel.

24: Tell us about what you are working on.

Boom Blake: Right now, I’m finishing up my debut album ‘The Manual Procedures’ and my group Money First’s second album ‘Digital Money 2’. Digital Money is now available on iTunes we dropped that earlier this year.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

Boom Blake: We’ve done a lot of in house work, I have my dude Ill Kayn who produces majority of our music in house. Also, on my album I’m working with the Traphittaz, Traplife Muzik and Yung Frank, these guys are amazing. I have also worked with Steve Francis of Stush Music. Right now we have reached out to K E on the track who produced Roscoe Dash’s All the Way Turnt up, Show Out, he also did Swag Surfing, and most recently the Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj record. We been chopping it up so hopefully we get the business handled and make that happen. I’d also like to work with some big names like Pharell, Kanye West, Pete Rock, Lex Luger, and the Justice League in the future.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

Boom Blake: Of course, we’ve been getting heavy love on the music. It just inspired us to keep going. People are hitting me everyday telling me they love the music so we just gone keep dropping for them.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need that you don’t to make yourself a household name

Boom Blake: You need to have patience and a plan. Also, you need a budget, there are some moves that an artist can make with a budget, and direction. People love free music so you need to be able to market yourself to get it to them. Once they are hooked you in there so you have to be able to flood the market with good music and people will gravitate to you.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

Boom Blake: I love the current state of the Hip-Hop scene. Room is being made for the little guys like us to be noticed so now its our time. Now is the perfect time to be independent and make money.

24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on?

Boom Blake: I’m working on my college degree. Just about finished my degree is Business Administration. If you gone hustle in this music game you have to have direction and I’m more focused than ever. Also, I blog and promote my group’s music online so I try to keep myself busy.

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2011 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

Boom Blake: I see myself finishing the year off strong and setting myself up for 2012 to make my name and my team ‘Money First’ a household brand name. I plan to do that by coming with more energy than everybody else. I think alot of artist are more laid back today, everybody is swagged out and nobody is really going hard. I’m going to bring that energy and come harder than everybody else and still have swag.
