It’s quite apparent Miami has a mass of musical talent all across the city limits, North, South, East, West; they flock from all over the southern tip of Florida. Within due time, they become dominate artists and practically take the entire industry by storm. Sometimes that hard work and dedication comprise who they eventually become amongst themselves and the public eye. They’ve been times that one hit song can shoot them to stardom before they are even ready for it. One such Miami artist has become a name practically overnight with the continuous airplay of his debut single and his performances throughout those same city limits.

As an artist and a producer, he has no stage moniker, but humbly uses his real name as his music title. The fans recognize him as the originator to the club hit, the radio hit; ‘She Bout It.’ Charles Sweeting has virtually become a icon overnight. His musical dedication has brought him to the status that he has worked 12 long years to get at. This is an exclusive interview with the presidential candidate himself, Charles Sweeting for President.

24: First off, how is everything with the famous Charles Sweeting?

Charles Sweeting: Everything is good. We’re chillin’ I’m a blessed dude, you already know.

24: For an artist to use their real name as a stage moniker is quite interesting, what was the reasoning behind that, I know there must be a story?

Charles Sweeting:There is no moniker or anything like that. That’s my name, that’s the name I was bought into the world under, I mean I feel like how real can I be if I just use my name straight up. When you come to my show you don’t see this character you see Charles Sweeting himself. So when you listen to his music, you’re listening to the person not the character.

24: As a matter fact, let’s get into the history of Charles Sweeting, where did it all begin for you?

Charles Sweeting: 2/11/83, understand that I was established in 83. As far as the music goes I’ve been in this for probably twelve years took it serious for nine, so that’s where we’re at right now.

24: Now let’s get into your music, when you actually sit down to write that potential hit song, what thoughts do you incorporate into your lyrics and are those perhaps inspired by life events, where do all the ideas come from?

Charles Sweeting: You learn from life events, but you also learn from knowing what you would like to hear as a consumer, what I would like to hear for myself as an artist and also if I was on the other side listening how I would I like for somebody else to come onto this track. So that’s what I give to the fans, really I don’t write it, the pen writes itself, the song writes itself.

24: Let the fans know when a Charles Sweeting album will finally grace the world?

Charles Sweeting:I would like to say a date, but to play it safe we are trying to get it out in the fall so ya’ll look out for it in the fall. Ya’ll know Charles Sweeting for President right now and that’s what where doing with it.

24: As a matter of fact, with that debut album, what do you plan on incorporating into that?

Charles Sweeting: You have to get Charles Sweeting now, who Charles Sweeting is. He only has ‘She Bout It’ out right now, so if you get to the internet find a couple hot 16’s that I did all the collaborations that I did songs with the Bottom Boyz, songs with Brisco, you know you’re going to get more of Charles Sweeting and you have better expectations of what the album is going to sound like.

24: At this present moment, do you have a title in mind?

Charles Sweeting:I was thinking about self-titled, Charles Sweeting, it might come out a little bit even more personal, so I’m not sure right now but it’s not going to be disappointment what so ever and I want to be 100% authentic and something that the people can hold on to, one of those albums that come once every three of four years that’s what this album is going to do.

24: What will you hit us with, when it comes down to sound and themes?

Charles Sweeting:It’s going to be a lot of down south sound off rip, then you’re going to get the Miami feel, then there’s going to be something Charles Sweeting about the sound to it so you’re going to have a little rock, maybe a little techno if that’s what you want to call it then a little bop and joking, then a little hood music it’s going to be a through and thorough album, good album.

24: Now let’s get into some music politics, it’s quite obvious that you hit the industry at a whole different angle then what is typical in music as of late, what methods are you taking at assisting the game from its obvious decline?

Charles Sweeting:I think because everybody is trying to copy everybody else and we’re in the ringtone era, so I think it has an impact on the quality of music. So think with me, I’m just trying to get back to the quality and give them the 100% nothing watered down just hit them in the throat with it.

24: How would the fans go about getting in contact with you?

Charles Sweeting:They can hit me up on my MySpace, like I said everything with Charles Sweeting is me, like if you call my phone I’m going to pick up, if you write me on MySpace I’m going to hit you back eventually give me time. If you have beats hit me up I’ll listen to them if you have to hit me up on MySpace and we will work it out from there, come to one of my shows and we will chop it up Myspace.com/charlessweeting.

24: Thank you for providing 24hourhiphop.com with this exclusive with the man behind the hit single ‘She Bout It,’ do you have any last words for your present and future fans?

Charles Sweeting:Shout outs to the Bottom Boyz, two times for Young Champ. Ya’ll stand up, Charles Sweeting for President, it’s my year!
