As I sit in 10th floor studios office preparing my questions and getting a blunt ready for the Curse Gator interview. He steps through the door with a Rick Ross beard and a set of shining gold’s . We sit down and grab the lighter to get started.
For the people who don’t know you what’s your name and where are you from?
Curse Gator born n raised in Dade county but Im originally from Allapattah Its right next to liberty city.
What do you feel was your biggest accomplishment of 2009 was?
My mixtape it was by far the biggest mission I’ve accomplished. I have another partner an idependent partner Bottom Boys Production. They helped me out. The title is “Come Judge Me” You know that’s what they gonna do. I got 21 songs on the mixtape including skits and all that. I’ve got a couple of them for the ladies and a couple for the streets a couple bangers for the hood. I’m kinda like Fab cause he can throw out street records and still make hits for the ladies.
Do you have a single off of the mixtape “Come Judge Me”?
Yea there’s a couple of original joints on there. I got a video I put out the song is on the mixtape its called “Ease Up”. And I got a few other original tracks on there. I had one track on the radio on 93.5. but that was a minute ago
and now Im working on something fresh and new to bring to the table. You gotta keep ’em guessing.
How would you describe your listner?
People that are ready to vibe and listen to real music. Im 100% sure I can get people to nod there heads im not just a rapper Im an artist. I actually sit back and put things together. Im possotive that everyone can bump to my work. If i wasnt confident in my music I wouldnt do this.
What got you into music and take it serious for a career?
Well since I was young and from Puerto Rico my cousins were out there doing there music stuff. Its like I grew up into music. My cousin G Money who brought me into everything had passed so I keep it going for him. Music is my legacy.
Who have you worked with production wise?
I have new up and coming producers working on my project so there not any big names you would know but you will soon enough. I think i got the best of the best of the up and comming producers.
Where are a few of the places you perform at?
A couple of clubs in downtown like 90 degrees, a few others but there will be more shows lined up. Im just now starting to really buzz locally so the promoters are just now getting used to hearin my name.
So can you tell me more about that music video you were working on?
My first video I ever did “Ease Up” it’s the only one I got out. Its hood but its not that hood. We shot right on the block. It’s a nice lil video for my first one matter afact. Its on youtube and myspace. Curse Gator fans can go and check it out.
With the internet booming for independent artists how have you taken advantage of the web as a tool?
I be on myspace but thats the only website I be all into I don’t have twitter and all that . I plan on building tho’s other site but I’ve been on myspace for a minute. Me and my team are buildin up all my social networks. My myspace is myspace.com/cursegatorap.
