24: How long have you been Rapping for? And how did you get into Recording Music?

DShep: I’ve been rapping since like late 05 early 06. A Patna of mines who is also one my managers now TJ he use to always hear me rap to myself when we was viben and use to tell me always that I should really try to do it so him alongside White Mike My other manager where the ones who really pushed me and put the money behind me to make things happen and that’s how everything got started.

24: Your Brand New Remix to Jay z and Alicia Keys “NY State of Mind” Titled “Miami State of Mind” has burning up the airwaves across South Florida. Tell me a bit about the process that went into creating that version? And how you managed to have all radio stations on board so quickly?

DShep: Well I had been Heard the Jay Z album I heard the song from way back. When initially I heard the album you could’int tell which record was going to be the single I kind of knew that record was going to be it tho when I scene him perform it at the Award show. So I heard it on the radio and I was thinking to myself this really doesn’t make sense for the djs to be playing the New York State of Mind in Miami so I decided to get in the studio and put it down for the crib I remember at first we was going through hell to find the instrumental but we found it andI had Veronica V do a hook, she killed it and then I layed my verses down shout out to Veronica V! I did the song if I recall correctly a Friday afternoon and I ended up sending it to Dj Grio and he dropped that night the same day I think he was replacing Khaled that night he brought the song back like 5-6 times .Later on that night I had to go back to the studio and do like 9 different versions for different djs because my phone was blowing up people really were feeling the song. Since then its been playing all over! I appreciate the love I did it for the crib!

24: You were featured on Charles Reed Smash Hit “Jooking” tell me how did that situation come about?

And how you feel about the outcome of the record?

DShep: When I first heard the record I did’int know who Charles Reed was. I was at the Hit Factory one night with Yung Hollywood   he had told me about this record that I would sound crazy on I was about to leave when Hollywood called me back and said to come lay it down that was the first me and Reed met we vibed out got to work and got it down next thing I know its on the radio! I appreciate that as well I think the record came out real good….. Shouts out to Charles Reed!

24: I’m aware growing up you were a promising Football Star with scholarships Lined up to play at some Big name schools tell me a bit about that situation in your life?

DShep: Football is like my first love football to me is what I really planned on doing with myself that’s all I ever really wanted to do. I’ve been playing since I was 5 years old in High School I dominated I was in the same conference with Frank Gore both of us where like the Top 5 Running Backs in the entire country every single year we went at it we played each other are senior year they televised the game it was a big game Gore had like 270 280 Rushing yards and like 4-5 touchdowns  I had like 270yds and like 4-5 touchdowns or something like that We actually ended up beating them that night! Shout to Frank that’s homeboy there. Leaving out of High School I could of gone to any School I wanted to go to in the country. I actually ended up committing to USC out in California but I ended up getting in trouble before signing day and they rejected my scholarship offer so ended up signing with Boston College and going outhere but I was a knuckle head and I took my Dade County mentality everywhere I went outhere and thought I was suppose to be the star as soon as I stepped on campus when I went outhtere they really didn’t except those type of things. My off field ability was whipping out my on field ability I was doing so much shit that I ended up getting kicked out of 3 colleges that’s when I ended up saying fuck it I just figured school wasn’t for me anymore but I love football it is actually my first love and will always be!

24: Who were some of your musical inspirations coming up?

Dshep: All Day Trick Daddy and JT Money they put it down for the South I was always a fan of underground music then mainstream music. There was a dude under No Limit named Mac I think besides Trick, Mac Was my favorite rapper of all time I use to ride to Mac all day everyday!

24: In your remix to NY State of Mind you mention a line about Chico’s and drug distribution. The drug game is a game that has no color Drug dealers are of all colors shapes and sizes. How do you feel about the music game without being racially bias I ask you these following questions. Do you think the game would be different if there was more whites involved musically including Chico’s. Eminem and artists like Pitbull have broken chains and barriers and have reached the top why do think there is not that many Chico’s in the rap game? And what is your opinion on Latino Rappers I’m sure you know a few?

DShep: Yeah I do think Rap Music would be different if there where more white and Spanish because I think there would be more point of views you can see life from there angle. Everybody who rap now they tell about there situation about there life and where they come from Pitbull is the only Hispanic Rapper that people hear from and actually pay attention to when he tells his story and makes his music. Eminem is the only White Rapper that tells his point of views that we listen to everyone comes from different backgrounds so I definitely think it would be more different if there were more Hispanics and White across the board Definitely! I like to hear different peoples lives stories I think there are not many Hispanics and white in the game for 2 reasons because they haven’t had chances… And on top of that money! You can be the best rapper in the world and if you aint got no money behind you odds is you aint going to get heard

24:  Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

DShep: In 5 year I see myself as a household name, A Franchise by that time I plan to have my own shit, my own label where I’m actually putting other artist’s on to do they thang and having them put money in there pockets. I’m planning on having Down South Known I want everybody to know Gould’s Naraja and Perrine like they know Carol City and Opaloka Everywhere I want to put on for my city!

24: When your time is over in the Music World what do you want to be remembered for the most?

DShep: I want to be remembered for never backing down from nothing I want everybody to remember me as a true stand up guy and a real nigguh who put on for his city! I just want to be remembered for greatness!
