24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

DaveWayne: I’m DaveWayne the next best to do it all the way from New Bedford, Mass. From the hood to college and beyond.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

DaveWayne: Growing up I always loved music especially around the time 50 cent came out. Right away I was inspired by 50’s music and business mind because I was never dumb with money and was smart enough at a young age to keep in mind that I will attend college some day, so 50 Cent being street and smart really appealed to me and helped me relate even more. This now makes perfect sense to why I now attend a prestigious college for business even though I grew up mostly struggling living in the projects with my moms to being taken by foster care. Going through many hard times at home, I began thinking about things in different ways while being inspired by everything going on in hiphop at the time, bumping Jeezy, 50, Game, Jay-z, Fabolous, Banks, and then I started tuning to a lot of Lil Wayne. Basically, after a couple years of Wayne, I started trying to rap by age 17 about what I did with my boys and everything I was going through. Now by the time I had started college I believed in myself more than ever, and my motivation just went through the roof. That’s when I met my boy Illy who also had a sincere, strong belief in our musical talents, and we took everything about our music serious from there on.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

DaveWayne: I believe as an artist I will be a lot more inspirational to the youth, and have one of the most powerful and meaningful messages to send to the world, which is to stay in school and make your community stronger, no matter how poor or how hood or how violent. I am also more versatile than a lot of artist in the game. I can sing a little, rap a lot, change flows, and come up with songs by the hour.

24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

DaveWayne: The Hip-Hop scene is very powerful where I’m from, but not as much for local artists. There has never really been a major Hip-Hop artist that has come out of Mass, and that’s why I see even more opportunity for myself.

24: Tell us about what you are working on.

DaveWayne: Recently, I just premiered my debut mixtape, DaveWayne Before the Fame on Datpiff.com with an exclusive video to track 8, Supah Kool, on worldstarhiphop.com in which the video received about 3 million views over night. Currently, I am working on another video that I will be shooting spring break in Miami. I am also in the process of completing a second mixtape that should be more like an EP.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

DaveWayne: I have used many beats from the industry and underground producers as well, for promotional use only; however I have worked well with TrackOfficials from soundclick.com and others like Johnny Juliano. As for the industry, I’ve hopped on many instrumentals for the Before the Fame mixtape, such as, Drumma Boy, Harry Fraud, and Mike Will Made It, and many more. I hope to work with all these guys for some original sounds once a deal comes through, but I also will love to work with Lex Luger, Dre of course, Young Chop, and basically whoever hot at the moment that can really work with my sound the best.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

DaveWayne: I am very happy about the feedback I’ve been getting lately, you know, a lot of people really believe in me and are depending on me now so it’s a great feeling to have more belief from others that’s one of the most important things you need to blow up besides the most confident belief in yourself.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name?

DaveWayne: What you really need to do is make catchy music with a lot of the right promotion and money necessary to invest in yourself. That’s really it.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

DaveWayne: I really like the hip hop scene right now it’s really poppin and I can’t wait to be a part of it. I can’t wait to work with some of the newer guys like Future , 2Chainz, ASAP Rocky, Trinidad James, and Chief Keef.

24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on?

DaveWayne: Outside of the music, I still attend college for a bachelor’s degree in public accounting and finance, and everything’s going good. I’ve maintained a high GPA and a well paying job.

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2013 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

DaveWayne: In 2013, I see myself becoming the next best upcoming and really blowing up worldwide by the end of this year. After my recent work I am truly confident that I got what it takes to be a part of the game and really make a big statement for artists and music fans globally. I feel I deserve it and that it’s going to be even bigger than I can possibly imagine.
