It has been a known fact that DJs are the pinnacle of the music world in each and every city across the world. They are known for breaking a hit record, exposing the artist, and providing good music for fans and the clubgoers. In Miami, the DJs acquire the utmost respect from every artist across the city limits. In each and every club, on each and every radio station, they break records literally on a level you can only imagine. They are ones that provide the counts for the airplay.

One much known DJ is in the forefront of his own circuit, his own movement. Many artists and execs in and out the hood know him simply as Rhymer. Now don’t let the name fool you, that moniker carries a heavy tone amongst the people in practically all of South Florida. Give him the time within this upcoming year and the movement Rhymer began will cultivate and prosper. With the assistance of Cartoon, Iceberg, and Lunch Money, their family is united and growing as the days pass. I introduce you to the Grandmaster of his own Miami movement, the infamous DJ Rhymer. This is the first and long-overdue exclusive interview with the DJ that’s pushing music like weight.

24: Give us a synopsis of who DJ Rhymer really is?

DJ Rhymer: I am DJ Rhymer, the mouth of the south, Dade County.

24: How did the whole Rhymer movement come about?

DJ Rhymer:To begin with, I was a local city DJ, just a regular high school DJ, then I got with Pretty Ricky and that’s where it really began. I got with them and did a record; did a few debuts and concerts, and that’s kind of where Rhymer started out.

24: I’ve been hearing a lot of rumors that you went to Carol City High School. Did you do a lot of DJing there?

DJ Rhymer:Yeah my own high school let me DJ. I was DJing in the ninth grade at school functions. Shout outs to Carol City High School.

24: You mentioned that you DJed for Pretty Ricky. Is this the old original Pretty Ricky or the Pretty Ricky now minus Pleasure P?

DJ Rhymer: It was the old original Pretty Ricky. I was with them when they were just starting out and trying to find them players; when it was just the boys and then Pleasure came. I was there from when Pretty Ricky was nothing, from those club house days.

24: So let’s get into the present with DJ Rhymer. What are you working on? We’ve heard a new track on the streets called ‘She’s Got Me,’ with local Miami artist, CuttaMan?

DJ Rhymer:The new DJ Rhymer is not a DJ; I’m more of an entertainer now. Like you said I got the single out called ‘She Got Me’ featuring my buddy CuttaMan and then I got the ‘She Got Me’ remix featuring Iceberg, Young Cartoon and CuttaMan which is also on the joint. Then we got ‘Wham!’ featuring Lunch Money and Young Cartoon. The now DJ Rhymer has a whole movement and I got a lot of people behind me. The now DJ Rhymer has been really working, the music’s getting out there. I got the mix tape with Iceberg, ‘International Billionaire’ and from that you could judge me from my DJ level. Then you could listen to my songs and you could judge me on my Fat Man Scoop. I call myself a Dade County Fat Man Scoop, I’m on the 95.3 radio station with DJ Peanut and DJ Unknown everyday, whenever you want to hear DJ Rhymer, I’m on the 95.3 everyday.

24: Give us the synopsis on how ‘She Got Me’ came about?

DJ Rhymer: Basically, CuttaMan is like my brother and he’s always been a rapping. I just simply came to him and said we’ve got to do something different, you’re doing your thing, but let’s do a twist, something they don’t know you for doing. He was like ‘No, I’m not going to do that,’ but he did it and it was like I forced him to get into another world and it just all came together. So CuttaMan and I produced it together, but it was a DJ Rhymer idea. CuttaMan sang; I can’t sing, I’m a DJ, I sound like Berry White. I got that hard voice, but it’s the DJ Rhymer created project with CuttaMan input.

24: Besides CuttaMan, what other artists are you working with and is there any that we would be seeing you with or gracing your tracks in the next few months?

DJ Rhymer:First, you will never see DJ Rhymer without Young Cartoon or Iceberg. That s the shit you will never see. We’re like the old Cam’ron and Jim Jones, two bosses working towards the same goal; those two need stop all the bullshit and work together again. Young Cartoon is my artist and as for Iceberg, our situation is together, when it comes to him being an artist and me being a DJ. It’s more than just works, its friendship first. There’s a lot of trust there as well, we are in each other’s career and we make that shit happen. Same thing goes for Lunch Money and Young Taz; shout out to Jackpot, too.

24: So basically your working with a lot of local artists, what projects will you be working on within in the next few months?

DJ Rhymer:Juicy Fruit, which is Young Taz featuring myself, that’s a new single, that’s one and there Infamous featuring myself is the second one; I’m trying to get my features up. Infamous, Young Taz, Brisco, Dade County the Circle, these are just some of the people. Iceberg and I have a new mixtape dropping as well. I’m working; don’t ever think I’m not working. My movement is big and I got too many in my circle.

24: I did a prior interview with Young Cartoon and we talked about Princess Asia who was at that time managing him working with him hard. What’s the situation now between you, him, and Princess Asia formally of Bottom of the Map?

DJ Rhymer

: Shout out to Asia, she’s cool, but right now we’re just making better business moves. We’re now working with people who are focused on us right now. She’s a good girl, but she wasn’t focused. It’s like, you can’t have anybody driving a car that’s drunk and not focused; that’s crazy. So now we got G-Money, Breaking Bread Entertainment and Head Coach.

24: Let the people know what’s going on with the radio station.

DJ Rhymer:The radio station is 95.3 FM on your radio dial and you can hear me on my morning show every morning from 6 am to 9 am, Monday through Friday. I’m up in the morning live like I’m in the club, for all the kids and the parents sending their kids to school. In the morning show you’ll get two spins, then from 4-6 in the afternoon you get two more spins and from 6-10, two more and so on. So if you feel that 95.3 is a good stage, pay

that fee, sit back, and I’m going make you star.

If you’re not a good nigga then we’ll never get money together, because you’re not a good nigga. Ladies do not get mad because I did not impregnate you, it’s not my fault.
