24: Where are you from?

D.Smoove: Palm Beach, Florida

24: What do you do up there?

D.Smoove: I write, rap, & sing. I got pressure.

24: What do you mean you got “pressure”?

D.Smoove: I honestly don’t see another artist standing in the paint with me. I mean, I got both sides of the court and I do it well.

24: What have you been working on lately?

D.Smoove: There’s this project I did, it’s called “I snap, I sing.” In the South when you hear an artist that’s spitting something, you like you say “snap” and I sing. It’s got a soul for sound too.

24: How did you develop that sound?

D.Smoove: Think it comes from my childhood. I mean, I grew up singing in a choir since I was five until now. A lot of my friends & family called it a gift I have, not necessarary a talent. They think my voice was instilled in me for a reason.

24: So what song are you pushing right now?

D.Smoove: Well there’s a track called “Horse Play.” It’s a term we use when we “Polo Down.” I been rocking Polo for a while now and I just felt like it needed a theme song in its own term. There’s also another track called “Don’t Leave,” it’s where I’m doing both, singing and rapping on. The song basically says “Don’t leave your man for me, we goin’ to do what we do but you ain’t gotta leave.”

24: How can your fans find your music?

D. Smoove: You can go to krankitupmad.com or you can Google me. Also make sure you download the mixtape, “I Snap, I Sang” & look out for my album called “Definition of Swag.”

24: Tell me about the album, what can we expect?

D.Smoove: The album is something I’ve been working on for a minute, it makes me smile when I talk about it because I know when people actually hear it, their going to be blown away. It has every element of music… rap, pop, etc. I took my time with it, its going to be perfect.

24: Would you say that your life influenced your music?

D.Smoove: I think my life had a really big influence on my music. It all came from something I seen, heard, or did. There’s nothing to guess about my life painted picture for me & that’s why I feel I have that balance because I can adapt, corporate or fit in with a drug lord.

24: There’s a problem making money on the internet because people can download your music, how are you ready to prepare for that?

D.Smoove: That’s where I come in with saying I’m an artist and as an artist you have to have them separate heads, there more than just making music. You have to an entertainer, you should be a good writer, and be able to put off an actual grand. If there is something I want, I’m going to pay for it. I’m not going to cry about it or look for something different; I’m going to do what I have to do to get it. With that being said, I think that’s a lot of excuses for the internet problem, I’m not worried about losing that because I’m always going to make a way.

24: How are you planning to separate yourself from other artist?

D.Smoove: It has to do with my song structure. With me, you’re not going to hear the same thing all the time, there’s going to be added surprises. I like to put in things to keep you on your toes.

24: Tell us about your background, family, how you grew up?

D.Smoove: I’m a very family oriented person. As for immediate family, I have a mom who stays on me and a dad who has always been a grinder. We were one of the very few black families who stay together. We still went through the struggles, but that’s what keeps me on my toes. I started out on the bottom and I told myself I don’t want to be there no more.

24: How long have you been rapping?

D.Smoove: Well, the first time I started truly thinking about it was around 2000. I always played football with my friends and they took rapping serious back then. Well, one day while they were rapping and I added a verse in, everyone liked mine the most.  After, I started playing around in the studio, but still didn’t think about it, but still we on and played college football. Then one day in the locker room we had a rap section and they told me I had a talent for it, so ever since then I’ve been involved in it 7 years deep.

24: Is there something else you want to tell the fans?

D.Smoove: I’m always going to be doing bigger and better things. We’re going to do more than just entertain, were going to have little events for the youth. The mixtape “I snap, I sing” was only the beginning for me because I’m going to evolve.

24: Tell the people where they can find you…

D. Smoove: Google me… D. Smoove Music, Twitter.com/DSmooveMusic and Facebook.com/DSmooveMusic561.
