24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.
FDA Music: My name is Fadi Abouabsi, I was born in al-khobar Saudi Arabia in 1986, I am Lebanese by blood. I came to Houston, Texas at the age of ten and was raised on the west side. I own an independent label in Houston, Texas called Overgrind Records. I started making music with my current business partner B-Luce at the age of 18, as “F.D.A. and B-Luce” we completed 4 mixtapes and 2 albums within 4 years of making music together, we also got a opportunity on Pandora radio and placed our music on worldstarhiphop, Spotify, iTunes, and Google Play which you can jam under “FDA and B-Luce.” In 2012, I decided to start working on my solo album, I banged out my first 2 singles “Run it” and “Hometown” placed it on WorldStarHipHop, iTunes, Spotify, Google play and more you can just search “fdamusic”.
24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?
FDA Music: Moving to H-Town in 1997, I was introduced to artists such as Killa Kyleon, OG Ron C, Freestyle Kings, Wrecking Yard, DJ Screw, Paul Wall, Chamillionare, Color Changing Clique, 50/50 Lil Twin, Agony Life, Mike Jones, 5th Ward Boyz, UGK, Geto Boys, Scarface, Slim Thugg, Boss Hogg Outlawz, ZRo, Trae Tha Truth, Big Pokey, Chalie Boy, ABN, Lil Flip, Odd Squad, Lil Keke and the list goes on!….We used to see and hear about all the swangers, the diamonds, the grills, and i remember telling myself “i want to get like that”. my biggest inspiration believe it or not was outside of houston, jada kiss, styles p, lil wayne and my life. its like the things they talk about is identical or close to the way i live.
24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?
FDA Music: In Saudi Arabia there we had more Metallica and Michael Jackson, Hip-Hop was not introduced till about 2010, but it is still frowned upon and i remember one guy got executed because he released a song cursing talking about how the politics was BS and in a very religious place, such things are frowned upon and are treated as such.
24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?
FDA Music: In my opinion what makes me unique is my abilities to stay universal, i do not possess one type of style i can entertain many types of crowds. I offer an insight to the lifestyle of my country and my stories of living in Houston,TX

In the future i would like to work with producers such as mike will, j.u.s.t.i.c.e. leauge, DJ Premier, manny fresh, beanz n korn bread, Kanye West, hi tek, havoc, dr. dre, alchemist, 9th wonder, swizz beats, and really anyone who is current and making hard tracks.
24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?
FDA Music: So far so good, as “FDA and B-luce” we sold around 5,000 copies my 2 solo singles ive already sold over 10,000 copies so im really happy with the outcome, im well known in Houston by the general public and i got fans all around the world.
24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make your self a household name?
FDA Music: I go by Jay-Z’s quote “We don’t believe you, you need more people,” I live by that quote. If people don’t know you they are not going to buy your music, if you are out here just putting whatever out, you will not be respected. I haven’t had a problem selling any of my music, even people who download it for free go buy it just so they can get the higher quality version. I have only done two shows but I’m very social and i know the right people, i also do a lot of advertising online. all a person needs to do is click once and listen to become a fan, if you are making good music, you will be recognized.
24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?
FDA Music: I feel people lost the meaning of Hip-Hop, and there is a state of confusion of Rap music vs Hip-Hop music which is not the same, Rap artist are saying there Hip-Hop and Hip-Hop artists are trying to be rappers. So its my job to let people know through my music the difference.
24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on?
FDA Music: I recently signed a artist named “Prettyboy Jose” R & B artist, he is a very talented up and coming artist he has mad potential and he is banging out tracks left and right, look out for him because we are going to be on some crazy promotions for him. Also started a productions company for music videos and live event make sure to check out OverGrind Productions for all your video needs.
24: Where do you see yourself going in 2013 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?
FDA Music: Just stay focused on me and really not to much about what other people are doing, there are lots of talented artist out here but i offer sum things that they don’t so if I continue to stay lyrical and all progress everyday there’s no telling where I’ll end up, only up from here.
