24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

Fresh: Hey what’s up , it’s Fresh to the people, Keith to the government. 317 is my city 225 is my roots. What’s good?

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

Fresh: Well I started poetry early, that’s how I found my love for words, then I went through my dancing stage, I danced in many groups around the city from Hip-Hop to Gospel. I graduated from Kaplan college as a medical assistant and I’m ready for the world to pursue my dream of being a doctor I couldn’t continue on that path knowing my passions (poetry, dance) would go to waste, combined the 2 and got rapping, found out I was good and ran with it. I was 2 hours late to my college graduation, recording my very first song on April 15, 2011 and here we are 54 songs, 63 shows, and 2 albums later.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

Fresh: The Hip-Hop scene growing up was raw and untainted. I’m a 90’s baby, so the Hip-Hop scene then was still original. These days people are just basically remaking persona’s and throwing some 2012 in there where it fits. Growing up in Baton Rouge, you heard a lot of passion in music cause that’s the type of people the South raises passionate soldiers from the 225 and the 504 soldiers are made.

24: what makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

Fresh: I got the name Fresh by being original and staying consistently original. My personalities are a trip. My stage presence is another. I don’t get on stage hold a mic and say I’m an artist, I give a show, I’m an entertainer before an artist. Lyrically, I’m Michelangelo and instrumentals are my ceiling. I paint pictures always have, always will vividly, I guess the major difference would be this, while the competition is “trying,” I was born to make music/entertain.

24: Tell us about what you are working on.

Fresh: Aww man, 3rd album “creatively real” is in the making right now. I can say this, I have about half of the album finished and I’m already in 3 different genres, it’s going to be crazy for the music scene. I’m still promoting and pushing recent projects like “iPhone Music” and “Elite Money Maker” which both have done very well in over 15 different cities.

24: what producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

Fresh: I’ve actually only worked with one producer really, yeah I’m a loyal kinda guy, but yeah his name is Matt “Big Beatz” Franklin, a well known producer in Indianapolis (317). We have made over 50 songs in a year’s time and counting and I’m willing to work with anybody that’s willing to work with me my only preference is that the producer has to be a musician “beatz” has me spoiled that way. I have so many creative ideas bouncing around 24/7 and when I have a hook I sing it to beats and since he is a musician/engineer he knows how make what I wanted to but couldn’t cause I’m not a producer/engineer lol, but I’m down for keeping it fresh so whatever works, works.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

Fresh: Yes, I’m very happy. A lot of people didn’t/don’t know what to expect from me when they see me in person or just my CD covers, but once they listen to my music after the first initial shock they become fans or haters and what would the world be without haters so anything negative, I get, I just brush it off it isn’t worth my energy. Big shoutout to all my fans/supporters, I appreciate you more than you’ll ever know !!

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name?

Fresh: Talent first off, and the right promotions. Creating opportunities, networking, putting yourself where you need to be, but the most important hustle, talent without hustle is wasted talent!!!

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

Fresh: The current state of hip hop from a global outlook it could use some ‘Fresh,’ lol, no but really though, it could use something different. So many people have the same edge about themselves that nobody really stands out. Everybody can’t tell the same story.

24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on?

Fresh: I have a Gospel dance group that i manage, i also dance Gospel myself as a solo act. My best friend, Greg Foster is starting a Semi-Pro basketball summer league in Indianapolis that I am apart of and that will actually be starting in the next few weeks, I’ll post updates on that on my website as i get the info, so be on the look out!!!!!!!

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2012 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

Fresh: I see myself still climbing to the top, the music biz is no joke and nothing about it is easy, but I plan on staying myself, making honest and relatable music, and giving an awesome/memorable show every time I touch the stage.

24: How can fans go about contacting you?

Fresh: My website stay bombing advertising 23.2 views a day, so anything they wanna see from me just go there and they will find everything they need. www.freshnhere.com, @kooflyfresh, http://www.facebook.com/keith.c.hill.7, http://soundcloud.com/freshjkool

24: Thank you for providing 24HourHiphop.com with this exclusive interview, do you have any last words for your present and future fans?

Fresh: Thank you for your current and future support. Be brave enough to stay yourself, everybody is already taken and believe in yourself. Don’t let anyone who doesn’t have the power to tell you yes, tell you no.
