24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

GetItGirl Renae: My is Renae Griffith aka GetItGirl Renae. I am an aspiring R&B/ Hip Hop female artist from CT. And mark it, I’m one of CT’s prize possessions.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

GetItGirl Renae: Well growing up, I was always into creative writing. I mean I’ve always had a passion for creating art through my words. My mom got me into writing poetry. And that’s when I do believe my artistry began. As far as inspiration, I would say, that was presented to me through a challenge by my mom’s ex-boyfriend. He used to kid around and do these freestyle raps. And I’ve always found myself in awe over them. Lol I’ll never forget, he had just finish spitting a rhyme to me. And when he was done, he was like “only a person with true talent can do this” and I said “well I could.” He laughed at me and was like “Lil girl please, leave that to the men.” So I took it as a challenge and wrote first rhyme. I presented it to him, blew him away, and I’ve been writing ever since.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

GetItGirl Renae: Well first of all I’m a 80s baby. I grew up on Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie, Pac, the whole Ruff Ryders fam. And as far as the females you know I listened to Foxy Brown, Lil kim, Eve. You know they was all real. I loved the Hip-Hop seen. They talked about real life. They talked about hood life. And me being from the hood, I genuinely respected it.

24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

GetItGirl Renae: What separates me from other rappers that are out now,
I think it’s my versatility. Because I don’t limit my talent. I’m not afraid of anything. I’m not afraid to go out of my comfort zone and make it my own. And make it work. And also, I don’t look at this as a hobby, or a job. It’s just a part of me. I’m 24 with no kids. This is my child. It’s
something I live for.

24: Tell us about what you are working on.

GetItGirl Renae: I’m working on the marketing and exposure for my album we just released. It’s called “High Voltage.” And it’s available on iTunes, Amazon, Xbox Live and more. And I’m also in the process of recording my second album. I have a mixtape coming soon called “Judgement Day” Hosted by Hot93.7’s on DJ KG. Something to look forward to.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

GetItGirl Renae: I’ve worked with a couple different producers. P.Boogie, WBIV, and myself produced the “High Voltage” album that we just put out. As for my current project I’m working with The Masadonn, Trapsquad, and recently Travis Piskura. I’d love to work with producers such as Dre, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, and Lex Lugar. I’m telling you, I can go on with that.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

GetItGirl Renae: For the time being yes, I’ve been getting a lot of positive feedback so far. I have a lot of people anticipating more from me.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name?

GetItGirl Renae: As far as downloads go I’m cool with a person just wanting to download my music period. But I figure if I work hard and stay humble, people will respect and support that.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

GetItGirl Renae: The Hip-Hop scene now is very different from when I was growing up, but I respect it because I believe that Hip-Hop wasn’t made to be a one felt Genre. I believe in evolution with time. And that’s exactly what’s happening. Therefore I respect it.

24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on?

GetItGirl Renae: Outside of music I’m working on writing scripts for movies and plays. Also writing books. Looking forward to getting into lingerie modeling.

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2012 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

GetItGirl Renae: I feel like 2012 is my year. I’ve worked hard, stayed humble, and true to myself. I plan on being the first female artist to take CT all the way. I mean other
artists from here male and female have gotten to the door and dropped the ball for whatever reasons.
That’s crazy to me. All I need is a foot in the door and with God’s grace, I’m gone from there.
