24: How did you link up with Northstar Entertainment?

Ghost Wridah: Well I mean I came up to New York to put some work in up There musically, and word spread about me fast. So I met these Dudes Named Earl Gaynor, and paradise. They thought my material was classic and they called Northstar who at the time managed serious Jones and still does manage the SugarHill Gang Thought I was talented and Made me an offer I felt was fair. Here we are months later with a hit record and a complete independent album with Green Lantern, Shout to the Evil Genius Green Lantern. God is good!

24: I know your putting the finishing touches on your album right now so tell me what do you feel it will bring to the music world?

Ghost Wridah: First let me clear up that this is an independent album I’m releasing before my major Release Kind of giving the hip hop fans a sneak peak at what they can expect from me on my actual album. Artist just jump out into the world with high expectations and minimal work ethics and then they wonder why they don’t sell. I’m giving my fans a chance to get to know me before I become a mega star. Showing them my hard times, my life before the glamor and glitz! Simply that I am human dig what I’m saying. As for The album it’s Called “The Ruler’s Back” and it’s a conjunction of Southern Soul, Story Telling and All around Classic material.

24: What made you decide to go Independent compared to going with a Major?

Ghost Wridah: Well I am Going with a major, I just Haven’t Chosen a home for myself Because I feel I have work to put in on the underground side, Which I feel will help me when I take my next few major meetings. It always looks good to come in with a fan base and spins rather than coming in based on “Oh he’s Hot”. So I’m working my way up to a major situation the right way.

24: You have one of the biggest DJ/Producer in Green Lantern involved with your project which most new artist only wish for so how did you make that a reality?

Ghost Wridah: I was Introduced to Green Lantern by My Management. We met in New York in the studio I played him a few tracks, we talked for a about an hour about the state of hip hop, and what he thought I could bring to the table and we got off to a great start. We meshed really well. He played me a few beats, I spit a hook to him and he went crazy. Two days later we had a smash record together called pray for me. Great Record by the way! From There we started working on the a CD together “The Ruler’s Back.” Lets just say good music will stand the test of time, and it will forever rule in your favor. He also selected a song I did called “Dying To Survive” to be on a Hip Hop compilation Cd called “ YES WE CAN”. A joint effort between Russell Simmons & Barak Obama. I am a firm supporter of Obama, and what he stands for so I feel honored to be apart anything associated with history, our history!

24: What was it that you think he saw in you?

Ghost Wridah: He thought it was a great look that I didn’t rap about selling dope, or shooting pistols on every record. It was my ability To make a Good Song, I guess its become a rare thing to Hear good music from a new artist. I’m me, and I think Kanye said it best “Everything I’m not made me everything I am.”

24: Where did you go with the album as far as production because from your song “Long Time Coming” I got a more soulful vibe from it?

Ghost Wridah: I took it back with this one. I have samples from Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield… I mean it feels really cohesive. The music feels like a cross between the 70’s and today. Southern Soul is what we like to call it. Samples behind southern drums is all it is.

24: Who did you reach out to for production and when should the readers be able to pick it up?

Ghost Wridah: I went to a new producer on the come up Name J Cardim. He’s produced for fab, red café, the lox, jae millz… he’s on his hustle. He’s produced the lead single, which Features Shawty Lo titled “Born And Raised In The Ghetto” And a few other smashes on the project. We Have Really Good Chemistry when it comes to the music. Look out for him… I Also went to the beat kings out in Miami who provided good music as well. Shout to Lowkey and Jawn, we got money to get. The Incredibles did one called “All I Know. I pretty much did all the A&R work, and Executive Produced it. If you want music just Go to my Myspace. Its www.myspace. com/Ghostwridah the single will be available on itunes soon.
