24HHH: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are?

Hipman Junky: Hi my name is Hipman Junky aka Hippy J, I’m an indie/urban singer-songwriter.

24HHH: How did you come up with your Producer/Artist name? Tell us about it.

Hipman Junky: Well it’s a funny story to be honest, I was chilling watching IP man the movie, It had such an impact on me I wanted to use the name IP man. But was smartly advised not to as it’s already been used.. So I had a lightbulb moment then added the ‘H’ to make it ‘Hipman’. As it represents my fun side being hip & cool, also added ‘Junky’ to represent my addictive nature to music

24HHH: Where are you from, and what was it like growing up there?

Hipman Junky: Im from the Uk ‘London’ England. Where I was born and raised in North West London ‘Kensal Green’. Growing up in a deprived area made things a lot harder, and probs lead me to make decisions in life which most wouldn’t, but I can’t complain as I am who I am today because of where iv been. I will always have love for the ‘KG’

24HHH: Who were you raised by? Tell us your family situation.

Hipman Junky: I was raised by my mother and grandmother but spent loads of time with my grandmother, as I was the favourite lol. My family is just like every other, we have our dramas but stick together when the times right. I find a few very annoying too.. Haha but I love them 🙂

24HHH: Brothers, sisters, or any siblings? Tell us about your childhood,

Hipman Junky: Yes ive got 3 brothers and 3 sisters who are all individuals… We all have similar ways but are nothing alike lol… Whereas I’m typical British.. None of them are.
My childhood was hard as obviously money was tight, but one thing I do remember we always had fun no matter what.4 we would make up games to pass time and keep busy. Also I loved football (soccer) and managed to work hard to get scouted for a pro team at 15. But the hunger for money took over and I left football, got a job and fell in love with music

24HHH: And how it impacted your music?

Hipman Junky: Well my childhood has had a big impact on my music as all my family listen to all types of music. Being from a mixed background I learnt to understand and appreciate all genres of music.. Which is why my style is so unique today, and it’s made my ears very adaptable so I pick up melodies easy etc

24HHH:What age did you start making music?

Hipman Junky: That’s a hard question because iv always been into music and was gonna get a deal at 16 but due to bad management it didn’t happen.. But I started taking making music deadly serious 5 years ago where I discovered my new skills.

24HHH: What inspired you to pursue making music?

Hipman Junky: It was always a dream of mine apart from football, so It was on the cards at some point in my life. I guess my inspiration comes from life and the situations we all face.. I try to draw the attention away from the troubled times and make people see the positive in every negative

24HHH: What artists/producers do you work with? Or rubbed shoulders with

Hipman Junky: Well I love to keep busy so I’m constantly around artists & producers. But a few names iv worked/rubbed shoulders with are Wiley, Dappy, Sway,
Benny Banks, The Streets, Mac Miller, Travis Mills, Haze ‘The Truth’,
Show n Prove, TMS and loads of others. They all are very nice people and I respect what they’ve done for UK music

24HHH: What else you got coming out? New Album? or Mixtape/EP?

Hipman Junky: Ive got a few Singles coming up with the first one dropping sometime in May called
‘On The Fence’. Where I am being a typical British lad. No dates have been set for the other singles but I’m looking at this summer, so keep your eyes peeled

24HHH: Tell us about your newest single “JORDANS”, how did you come up with that, share us the story?

Hipman Junky: My latest Single Jordan’s was inspired by the British fashion sense of today. Everyone is wearing Jay’s and no one has made a song relating to what’s current, so I thought I’d try to make it happen in the UK. It’s not my usual style but it’s catchy and the point is definitely made in the song.
The song came about from me working with my boy, a Sick Artist from Bermuda called ‘Bento’. He introduced me to a Producer called ‘Kemosabi’ also from Bermuda who dropped me a few beats. I went away and recorded the demos with this being one of the strongest, so we ran with it. Shot the video in a cool eye catching way to keep with the Jay’s trend and it worked.
Hope you all like it 🙂

24HHH: Any new travel plans, what you got going on?

Hipman Junky: Yes ive got loads of shows up and down the UK, also a tour this summer with talks of a tour end of the year. Nothing international just yet, but you never know I could be performing close to your neighbourhood real soon. Till then I’ll keep up the work rate and give you more listening therapy

24HHH: What is the biggest thing to happen in your career?

Hipman Junky: That’s a HAAARRRD question to answer, cos iv been blessed with so many great opportunities. But one of the biggest things to happen to me was when I first started. I was personally asked by a member of the band ‘NDUBZ’ to open every show on there final arena tour, which was 5weeks and the bands biggest. I was thrown in at the deep end and had to learn on the go. It kinda helped mould me into the artist I am, through giving me the experience. And I met so many amazing people both fans & production team/artists. It was a great experience to have and I’m thankful.

24HHH: Where can people find you?

Hipman Junky: You amazing people can find me at any of these links.

24HHH: Where do you see yourself going in 2014 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

Hipman Junky: In 2014 it’s all about taking it to the next level for me.. I’m like a starting player sitting on the bench, just waiting to join the match. And to separate myself from other artists out there, I’ll just keep doing me. Work hard at being better at being me coz no one can do me better than me. So I guess that’s the way to get the recognition I deserve, by being the best Hipman I can be.
Basically keep working hard.

24HHH: Any last words or shout outs?

Hipman Junky: Just wanna give all my love to everyone who has supported and still does support me and appreciates my music. Also everyone iv worked with and met along the way it’s truly been a pleasure.
And to my haters keep hating, cos the sun keeps shining even when it’s raining.

Peace.
