24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.
J-Pimp: What’s good everyone, my name is J-PIMP, CEO/Artist of VultureLand Ent. Coming str8 out of North Miami, FL.
24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?
J-Pimp: Growing up I always was into writing rhymes and poetry, til one day(back in the late (90’s) I was riding with my homeboi Fee to school, and I was freestyling for the fun of it. He leaned over and looked me in the eyes and told me, “stop biting and spit your shit!” I told him, “that is my own shit! He then said, “Damn homie, you got a talent you’ve been hiding all this time, you need to stop being shy with it and let it out!” He ended up taking me to his cousin’s studio, couple days later. I recorded my first record and I’ve been in love ever since!
24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?
J-Pimp: Raw and Real! Around that time 2Pac, Eightball & MJG, The Hot Boys(Cash Money), Trick Daddy, UGK, and No Limit was all you heard riding through my hood! So if you were a young up & coming rapper, you had to come hard. If you weren’t rapping about how you were really living, then you were wasting your time!
24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?
J-Pimp: My rap style, because I don’t have one! I strive to sound different on every record! Every beat is different, every day is different, and our moods are constantly changing. So I based my flow on how life is, always up and down…. Never the same!
24: Tell us about what you are working on.
J-Pimp: Right now, I’m working on my second mixtape. Self titled “J-P.I.M.P, Just Paperchasing Is My Passion”! Featuring the Hit Single “BANDZ” produced by HiStakes(Martian Productions) and the Street Single “ALL I WANTED” FT BILLY BLUE produced by PYRO(P.Y Trunkknockaz). Look out for that dropping this summer.
24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?
J-Pimp: Mostly in-house production like Pyro (P.Y Trunkknockaz), J_Blanco Productions, Poe Boy super producer J-Rock, HiStakes (Martian Production), and Dru-ezy From DOPEBOYZ Productions. I really believe in supporting local producers, as long as the beat is banging, let’s something happen.
24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?
J-Pimp: Most definitely. I always appreciate the love from the people! Just to hear someone you don’t even know come up to you and tell you, “I love what you do and how you do it, don’t stop keep doing it!” It’s a blessing.
24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name?
J-Pimp: Keep recording, Keep promoting, and take full advantage of all these social networks and the rest of them free music media sites! It’s a digital world, make the computer one of your best friends.
24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-hop scene?
J-Pimp: Not enough originality! Everybody sounds like somebody! Everybody doesn’t speak the same way, so why does the majority of the music sound like everybody does? Smh.
24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on?
J-Pimp: We are in the process of building a studio, not only for our personal use, but to help out local up & coming artist work and develop their music careers. Also we’re working on owning properties, such as Stores, Houses, Condos, and etc. We’re looking into all types of business endeavors that can benefit the Vultureland Ent brand.
24: Where do you see yourself going in 2012 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?
J-Pimp: I see myself reaching the stars and beyond. I plan to keep being true to me, and never be afraid to be myself. I got my own voice, my own sound, my own swag, and my own brain! With those essential, I’ma keep myself separated from other artist and at the same time make people feel me. Trustory!!
