Who are you? Where are you from? What is your background / nationality?
I go by Jet Grover, also known as 47 Jet. I’m a musician from Dade county, born and raised. Nationality wise I’m Cuban/Nicaragua/Jamaican. I wear many hats, and it’s something I enjoy. Being an independent artist it’s a must to wear as many hats as possible. From design merch, doing promo, making sure everyone is working on something everyday and all that falls second to making music. You can never loose sight of the music.
How did you get your Artist name?
I grew up near a park on 7th and 47th (747). A 747, was at one point the biggest airplane ever made. So to pay homage to where I’m from I called myself Jet and Grover is part of my last name.
What motivated you to get into Music?
I’ve always had a thing for words, I like enjoy their definition, the fact that there’s different ways to use them and some words are spelled the same but means different things so I’ve always enjoys how artist can put those to a beat and create stories and music.
What makes you unique / stand out as an Artist compared to the rest?
Authenticity, I feel that in an era of capping, and faking and a lot of gimmicks my music is as authentic as possible. Everything I say stands true and always will be. I make music from experiences and conversations and you can hear it and it translate, you can feel my music. I don’t think I can make something that’s not true to me.
Let our readers know some of the names of people you have worked with?
I work a lot with 3 other artist. JavyDade, Bleeze, and YJ (47 Republic). We make a lot of music together and we have a chemistry to us that again is authentic. And you can hear it. We are passionate and we respect each other’s craft. But we are all competitive as hell too. Which is a good thing, iron sharpens iron!
What are somethings you would like to achieve and why?
Short term goal is to get the music to as many people as possible and create our own tour. Be completely independent where we can handle and own everything. The why is simple, to create a better life for the family.
What are some past achievement worth mentioning?
Opening for Cardi B and Kodak at Trap Circus, opening up for 69 at Art Basel And still being here. Seen a lot of artist come and go but the fact that we are still here working and with some relevancy is definitely an achievement I don’t take for granted.
On a personal level, how would you describe yourself in detail?
Always called myself an extroverted introvert. I keep to myself a lot, some people say I got a serious face all the time but I just be to myself especially around people I’m not comfortable with. But around the family I’m a funny guy and opened.
What is your latest single? What are you working on?
Recently dropped a project “Don’t Over Think Shit” (D.O.T.S.) also dropped a single called “No Help” you can find those on all platforms. As far as working on, always working on music but at the moment working creating Leverage.
In this music industry, what is something you learned the hard way?
Everything must be in writing!!! Everyone is cool, but if you don’t got shit in black and white that’s where you get caught slipping.
How long have you been doing music? What got you into Music?
Been making music for about 6-7 years now still enjoying the process. I got into music by accident. I use to take my cousin to the studio because he used to rap. He got mad faded once at the studio and passed out and I was listing to the engineer mix. I told him I thought some adlib should go there and he told me to go do it. Reluctantly I did and that’s what started it all.
In 5 years, where do you see yourself in the music industry and why?
In 5 years I see this being a successful record label, with a huge tour going and maybe it’s own festival. Also helping other artist grow as we establish our core. As far as why, that’s what we’ve always strive for and I don’t see any reason why we can’t achieve it.
Who were some music influences you listened to while growing up? What do you remember when you think about them?
Biggie – remember his stories and flow Tupac – his passion and aggression DMX – passion and aggression. Mase – how smooth he was TI – how in yo face he was Man there too many to write Kanye Drake El General Cole Etc…
