24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

KD: What up world I’m Kevin D’wayne aka KD’ from the Bay Area CA.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

KD: I’ve been listening to music every since I can remember but I never thought to pursue it myself until my uncle passed away and I had so much I wanted to say to him but couldn’t. It was around the time T.I. had that song out “live in the sky” and I downloaded the instrumental to that track and took it to my boy house who had an in house studio. I wrote a song to it in like 20 mins then recorded it and my boy was like ” wow! I gotta mix this rite now and we need to press this up”. So we did and started passing CD’s out to everyone at school and the response I got from everybody was so great that it inspired me to keep making music.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

KD: It was all about the hyphy movement. Every rapper made songs that you can turf to. E-40 was like the main rapper in the Bay and at every function if one of his records came on everybody would go dumb. But nobody ever really took off because the scene was so divided, I felt like everybody was about themselves and didn’t really support anything that wasn’t them.

24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

KD: My ability to make a record about anything, I don’t have a lane or one style, I put myself in my music and I don’t hold back, I speak my mind and I make records based on true life experiences too.

24: Tell us about what you are working on.

KD: Just dropped my first real mixtape titled The Commitment so I’m working on promoting that on different websites, but I’m always in the studio working on new material”.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

KD: I’ve been working with Syksense from Tennessee who’s signed to Boi1da Productions”! There are so many great producers rite now, I would like to work with anyone that wants to work with me. I don’t have a preference in producers I just know dope production when I hear it.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

KD: Definitely, all feedback is good feedback positive or negative. The positive feedback lets me know what qualities people appreciate about me and my music and the negative either lets me know what I need to work on to get better or what makes the haters mad lol. Either way its all good feed back because it lets me know people are tuned in.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need that you don’t to make yourself a household name

KD: Just more promotion. You can be the dopest rapper ever but if nobody knows who you are it means nothing.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

KD: I think everything that made us all fall in love with Hip-Hop is coming back around. Artist are getting back to Lyrics and not just hooks and beats.

24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on

KD: Learning to shoot Films and working on building my entertainment company RED LEAF GAME.

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2011 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artists out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

KD: I don’t have any place to go but to the top, I feel that my work ethic will allow me to excel and my music will get me the recognition I deserve.

24: How can fans go about contacting you?
