24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are?

Krytykal: I go by Krytykal a.k.a “The Problem”. I was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan but mainly raised in Sacramento, California. I started rapping at the age of 16 and ever since then I loved to write and do music so much that I decided to make a career out of it.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

Krytykal: When I was younger on my Walkman all I listened to was Twista, Mystikal, the whole No Limit camp, Outkast, 2 Pac and Biggie. I wanted to be like them. I seen all the fans, love, and support they were getting and I wanted that too. So because of that, they all motivated and inspired me to write music and work hard at getting to where I want to be.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

Krytykal: The Hip-Hop scene in Sacramento for artists trying to come up was like a crab in a barrel effect. Everybody is out for themselves and there is little support. Sacramento is a city where there are limited resources and help for hip hop artists’ like me to further their career that’s the main reason why I left my hometown to Atlanta to make a name for myself and get my music heard.

24: What makes you unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

Krytykal: Well, what a lot of people say about me that stand out the most is my voice and my aggressive delivery on tracks. I’m very versatile, I have my own style, and I stay being me.

24: Tell us about what you are working on?

Krytykal: As of right now I just dropped my new album titled Larger Than Life. You can get it on i-tunes, cdbaby.com, Dimple Records in Sacramento, and all the online stores. I have major plans for my next project. In my next project, my fans will really get to know the real me and where I come from. It’s going to define the good and the bad about Krytykal and my life.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?
Krytykal: My main producer that I have been working with for years is Complex. But I have also worked with Dev Right The Beatssmith, and Nate for my newest album Larger Than Life. For the producers I would like to work with are Dr. Dre, Cool & Dre, and Drumma Boy. I think my voice and my delivery would be a perfect fit on their tracks.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

Krytykal: Yes. I am more than happy with the feedback I have been getting. It amazes me how people really love my music. I’m always hard on myself and people always tell me I’m better than what I think so when I hear fans come up to me telling me that they love my music and cant wait to hear more from me, it’s a real good feeling I get. It’s that feeling that makes me go harder and never quit. I haven’t got a bad review yet.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name?

Krytykal: I suggest subscribing to all the top 10 Hip-Hop websites in the world where people can find your music. It is important to get a Facebook and Twitter account to connect to all your fans. Also do your ground work and get a good team together where you can be seen in the public and work hard. Nobody can tell you that you cant make it but you.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

Krytykal: I feel that Hip-Hop is turning to be more Hip-Hop/Pop music in this day in age. It’s becoming more club and commercial than anything. However, underground to me will always remain underground in the essence of real hip hop.

24: Outside of the music what else are you currently working on?

Krytykal: I live, eat, and breathe music so there isn’t really too much that I do outside of music but do music.

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2013 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artists out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

Krytykal: I shoot for the stars every year hoping that I make it up there and 2013 will not be an exception. So therefore, my drive is unlimited and if it seems like there is not a way I’ma make a way. Real talk.

24: How can fans go about contacting you?

Krytykal: They can contact me on Facebook at http://facebook.com/KrytykalTheProblem and on Twitter at http://twitter.com/KRYTYKAL

24: Thank you for providing 24hourhiphop with this exclusive interview, do you have any last words for your present and future fans?

Krytykal: I want to say thanks to all my current and future fans that will be supporting me throughout my career. Without ya’ll, I wouldn’t be where I am at today! We gonna ride til the wheels fall off.
