Lunch Money: Artist, Actor, Songwriter and Producer by way of Miami, FL with Jamaican heritage.
24: I know you were in a group before so tell me what do you feel your bringing to the music world as a solo artist ?
Lunch Money: I feel like I’m bringing myself to the music world, I’m bring my own individuality. What you hear in my music is what you see when you meet me.
24: Who were some of your musical influences growing up?
Lunch Money: I grew up on a lot of different kinds of music, but the first music I was introduced to was Reggae music due to the fact that my father is a Reggae bassist and my uncle is a Reggae guitarist. I listen to everything from Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, to Biggie and all different genres of music. If I hear it and I like it, I listen to it and I study it.
24: When you dropped “Get Grown” followed up by the remix it seemed like your buzz was at a all time high then it died down. An I’m sure you have been in the studio working to hit the streets right back so tell the readers about some the projects your currently working on?
Lunch Money: Well, due to the fact that I was filming a movie around the time “Get Grown” came out, I had to put most of my focus into that at that point in time. I also did the soundtrack to the movie which will be available around summertime of next year. While I was doing that I was recording the “FREE LUNCH E.P.” which I just dropped last month. I have also been doing a lot of song writing. I got a lot of records dropping with a lot of different artists next year so be on the look out for that.
24: Who are some of the producers you have been working with and who would you love to work with in the near future that you think would help bring you to a whole different level?
Lunch Money: Some of the producers I work with are Salaam Remi, Krunkadelic, Lu Diaz, Ben Dheil, Zefariah and we also have our own production company called “The Team” which consists of some very talented writers and producers. Were going to make a lot of noise in 2010.
24: At a time when the music industry is at an Up & Down state do you have any plans of signing to a major or just keep building up your buzz at this moment?
Lunch Money: I’m just focused on building my buzz. I been signed to a major before and it’s not everything it’s cracked up to be unless you go in there with the right situation. I’m building up our own companies “Soundbwoy” and “Sky High Club” which involve music, film, fashion, marketing, branding and all different aspects of the game.
24: After seeing what Drake did on his own and caught the attention of the world as a new artist does that help inspire you when it seemed like we were just headed for another year of “Auto-Tune” records and “Ringtone Music“?
Lunch Money: I think that was a good example of perfect timing and that’s what I think all artists need to understand. When it’s your time, it’s your time so make sure that you do everything you can while you have it.
