24HHH: Intorduce yourself to everyone that doesnt already know who you are

Paul Athoe: I am, Paul Athoe aka PA, twenty-five year old emcee from Buffalo, New York.

24HHH: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about
how you got into and what inspired you

Paul Athoe: I’ve always rapped, but it wasn’t until just last year that I decided that this is what I wanna do for a living. As far as what inspired me, just the everyday grind that is the financial struggle to get by and just not being passionate about my regular 9-5. I consciously made a decision to chase a dream.

24HHH: What was the hip hop scene like for you growing up where your from

Paul Athoe: I grew up and fell in love with hip-hop in the 90’s, a golden age, a time we all know was GREAT for hip-hop. Being on the east coast, New York City emcees were always very prevalent. As I got older I started seeing guys like Drake come out of Toronto, guys like Wiz and Mac come out of Pittsburgh. These are neighboring cities, these guys are the same age as me. It started giving me the confidence to think if they can do it, why can’t I.

24HHH: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now

Paul Athoe: I am Paul Athoe, both on the mic and off it. I feel like this in itself makes me different than most every other rapper out there. The game is over saturated with cliches and gimmicks. My lyrics are derived from a reality that’s relatable to most people, that’s why we connect.

24HHH: Tell us about what you are working on

Paul Athoe: There’s two different things I’ll be working on, both revolve around this concept of “New Buffalo”. First, I’m gonna be releasing a special video of my most recent show and spotlighting all the acts that performed that night as well, from hip-hop to R&B. Additionally, bi-weekly I’ll be releasing brand new songs in collaboration with some of the city’s brightest artist’s in a series I’m calling “New Buff Friday”.

24HHH: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work
with in the future

Paul Athoe: Producers I’ve worked with, Elmer Pinto of Platino Music, Tony Twist of Twisted Tony Productions, and M. Audio. Who I’d like to work with is more or less a wish list, obviously Dre, Kanye, and I also like and admire 40’s sound a lot as well.

24HHH: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people
on material you have released

Paul Athoe: Absolutely. However, I never settle. I always want what’s next to be bigger and better than what’s past.

24HHH: In todays free download age, what do you need to do to make your self a household name

Paul Athoe: Above everything else, you gotta be making great, quality music. Music that people will want to hear again and again. You gotta do a hell of a lot more than just release free music and you gotta spend a hell of a lot more money than people on the outside think. You gotta put a face to the name. You gotta be everywhere, you gotta play shows. Not only play shows, kill shows. Brand yourself.

24HHH: How do you feel about the current state of the hiphop scene

Paul Athoe: Hip-hop’s in a good place, or as good of a place as it’s been in awhile. It’s a genre that’s especially attractive to independent artist’s like myself, Macklemore’s out here winning major awards and touring arena’s as an independent.

24HHH: Outside of the music what else are you currently working on

Paul Athoe: Really just working to expand my brand. Developing and increasing my web presence and launching PaulAthoe.com, merchandise, and eventually accumulating all the equipment I need to start working out of my own studio.

24HHH: Where do you see yourself going in 2014 and how do you plan to
separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve

Paul Athoe: Up until right now my career’s been on a consistent incline and in 2014 I look to continue and carry that momentum. I plan to separate myself by just making better music and grinding harder. I also studied the business aspect of the music industry in college and I feel like that gives me a strong advantage over most.

24HHH: How can fans go about contacting you

Paul Athoe: Thank you for having me. As cliche as it sounds, Paul Athoe is a movement. It is as every bit as much my fans and my team as it is me. I couldn’t do this with out y’all and if I do breakthrough it’ll be because of you. Let’s continue to push forward.
