24: Introduce yourself to the readers and let them know who you are and where your from?
Phatz: I go by a couple of names such as Phatz, Phat-boi, Marty McFly and His Highness but I go by Phatz mostly. I’m from Carol City Miami,Florida. I’m pretty sure a lot of of you out there have heard about it, the whole world should have by now.
24: What made you want to get into music?
Phatz: I’ve been around it my whole life. I grew up around it and music was always apart of my every day life. A few years ago I used to MC with DJ Entice of 99 Jamz. We were always in the Club, always around the best Artist and the best music. I started to get that itch. I thought I could contribute something to the game and not just the same shit thats been coming out. So about a year ago I started to go in. I think Miami needs a New & Fresh look and sound. We doing great right now, but I want to put us(Miami) further ahead in the game.
24: Describe your style and what would you say your bringing to the game with your music?
Phatz: I want to show the other side of Miami. We “Hood” down here, but that’s not all we represent. I mix that “FLY LIFE” with the “HOOD LIFE”. It’s something fresh from Dade that you aint never hear before. I’ve been compared to a mix of Jay meets “The Old Kanye”. A mix of “Wayne meets Ricky Ross”. That’s more of a compliment then a comparison to me. But I want people to get a reaction from my music. When you hear it I want you to picture yourself in that situation. That’s what music should sound like to me.
24: Who were some of your biggest influences musically?
Phatz: I only fu*k with the Greats. Pac, Jay and Frank White. You know, The Greats! But I’m influenced by anybody who aint scared to sound like themselves and make good music.
24: Tell everyone what’s some of the projects you have out now and what should they be looking out from you in the near future?
Phatz: I put out a mix tape earlier this year called “It’s So Easy” It made a lot of noise locally and I got alot of good reviews on it. I’m working on a EP right now of original music. Got a couple of videos about to take off and just staying busy. I can’t stay still.
24: Who are some of the producers you have been working with and who would you like to work with in the near future?
Phatz: I’ve done songs with Kane Beatz, got work coming up with The Blackout Movement and ocal producers Jackpot Music group who’s worked with artist like Ross, Brisco, Michelle Williams, Ace Hood and DJ Khaled. That’s my family, and the future sound of Miami. Cool and Dre would be at the top of that list of producers I’d kill to work with. I think there music brings out The best in the Artist. I dig where Pharrell go’s some times, so I know we’ll open some eyes.
24: What’s Next for you in 2009?
Phatz: Expect to “Hear & See” a lot more from me in 09! We are going to make sure the music is everywhere so we’re just making sure everythings perfect because I’m in this not to just make one hit record. I’m in it to be considered one of the best that did it!
24: Outside of yourself who would you say is next in line coming out of Miami that many of our readers may not have the chance to hear just as yet?
Phatz: There’s a female Artist by the name of Kirbey Maurier who’s voice is crazy! She’s the truth, your looking at a young Beyonce. We got a few records together and she’s going to be a problem for the R&B World.
24: How can someone get in contact with you or hear more music, etc?
Phatz: You can holla at me and hear all my new music on my Myspace page www.myspace.com/phatworld or go to www.valholla.com.
24: Anything you would like to promote?
