When producers cosign an artist you know that they have to be very talented. Especially when that cosign is from Grammy winning producers J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. Prime is going to be the new face that these credible beat monsters push.

I sat down with Prime and we spoke about his grind to establishing his mark in music. He tells me about his position with J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and his new single “Let It Go”, we also talk about a possible distribution from a major label.

24: You’re going to be a new face to the game. Let the Hip Hop world know who you are?

Prime: I go by the name Prime.

24: Where you coming from?

Prime: Tampa, Florida

24: How long have you been doing your thing?

Prime: Since I was eleven years old I been in love with music

24: How did the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League situation come about?

Prime: When I was young I met Colione from the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League before they formed J.U.S.T.I.C.E. and we stayed in touch over the years. Eventually I flew out to Atlanta when they moved down there and it’s been magic ever since then.

24: Is there a distribution label behind it like Universal or Atlantic ?

Prime: I know we got something talking out with Universal. It’s nothing official, but it will be soon.

24: Your signed to a grammy winning production team. Do you feel as if you as if you got a lot to prove?

Prime: (Laughs) I know its a lot of pressure on my plate though. They in the studio almost daily with major artists and it’s kind of hard to keep up with them being a new artist.

24: Being that you’re from the Tampa area, the jook genre is most noticed from there. You don’t sound like that. How do you separate your sound?

Prime: A lot of cats do that jook sound. I like that music. But I ain’t trying to just do that. Im trying to go past that I’m trying go major, I’m trying to put Tampa on the map.

24: The single is ‘Let It Go.’ Tell us a little something bout that record.

Prime: When I flew up to Atlanta I heard this one beat. I just had this vision it was going to be it. I kept I going at it. Eventually, I finished the hook. We had a discussion that if I had somebody big from Tampa, other then my self on the track, we were going to make it huge. So I got Tom G on it. He did his thing on it and it just been taking off. We just working on breaking the record.

24: Is there an album coming soon?

Prime: I got a mixtape dropping this summer with Dj Smallz. After we drop that, we definitely going be working on the album. We already started working on the album. I might be looking for some songs from the album on the mixtape.

24: What drives you to keep on going as far as recording and grinding in the game?

Prime: Them haters! My skin tone is going to be a major issue coming into the game. I’ve heard a lot of comments. I just take that shit and go into the studio and make hits.

24: What can we expect from Prime in the future?

Prime: Hit after hit after hit. I ain’t dropping nothing if it ain’t working.

24: I know that 2 pistols was apart of that fam. Do you guys work together?

Prime: Nah I don’t work with 2 Pistols. As far as him and J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League situation I don’t know anything about it. But me and 2p ain’t got no beef .

24: 5 years from now. Where do you see yourself in Hip Hop?

Prime: A major established artist. Every day I’m trying to make steps farther so imagine five years from now.

24: Any last words

Prime: Shout to J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League for getting me on my feet. To all the djs in Tampa. Dj Chad Fox. Look out for the mixtape with me and Dj Smallz shout out to T Baby, Chance Money, R.B and the whole Tampa movement.
