The Hip-Hop
movement in Miami is crucial. The
unity amongst a circle of young generation artists working with each other side
by side in unison for one goal is phenomenal. One artist is the focal point of
the youth movement in Miami, her voice and her talents have given her the
respect and the credibility to be where she is today, not to mention the
speculations that have been surrounding her recently. She has just about worked
with everyone within the movement and others that include major names. Her
resume is still rising as this interview goes in digital print. The confidence
that she has put into herself has definitely shown through her hard work and
dedication. She is the only female member of the group, Bottom of the Map, but recently ventured into her own solo career
after personal issues within the group surfaced. With her solo career on the
rise and another young artist under her belt, she is undoubtedly the future of
the Miami youth generation.

Without further due, I introduce you to the young voice of
Miami, Ms. Princess Asia. I recently
caught up with the Princess at the Boss Studios
where she was in the middle of recording her solo album and agreed to provide 24hourhiphop.com with this long overdue
exclusive. Sit back and get to know the real Princess Asia.

 

24: Now that I
finally have the infamous Princess Asia in front of me, how is everything as of
late?

Princess Asia:
Everything is fine; I’m blessed to be I’m making moves.

24: Let’s talk about
your beginnings and how it all started for you in the industry?

Princess Asia:
Well basically, I’ve been singing for a long time, but then it really came down
to my dawg, Money Mark, you could
call him family, he took me over to Bigg D, he had artist he wanted me to work
with. Bigg D signed me to the group, it really all began as just a feature, but
it all sounded good, so here we are Bottom of the Map. We were Rock Bottom in
the beginning and we became Bottom of the Map because the name situation, it was
taken already. So after that, we just started making moves, and doing what
Bottom of the Map do.

24: As a matter fact,
how did the whole Bottom of the Map movement begin?

Princess Asia: It
was like, Bigg D bought in Daddy Bone and I, Bebe (Abebe Lewis) brought in Lunch (Money) and Bizerk, so then the next thing they were like let’s make this
happen, let’s make this group. First song we ever recorded was ‘Daddy Like’ and
I think it was produced by Gorilla Tek.
After that was laid down, we just kept going with it.

24: Can you describe
us your side of the story on how the decline of the group came about?

Princess Asia:
Honestly, I didn’t even know the group was declined until I read the rumor
article on Bigg D and Lunch Money, that’s when I knew it was declined. I felt
like it was a messed up situation, I don’t want to curse, but I do feel like
cursing. It’s a real messed situation because when you make up a beef record
about someone you were working with, that’s just being selfish, you weren’t
thinking about nobody else, you were just thinking about yourself. I don’t care
how many times people say, ‘Nah, he took up for the group. Lunch didn’t say anything
bad, Lunch didn’t do this, but at the end of the day when you make a record
about somebody that everybody’s sign to that messes up the situation for
everybody, but I’m going to lose any sleep on it. Asia gonna to be Asia, I’m
gonna do me, I’m going to keep it moving.

24: What was your
take on the whole beef situation between Bigg D and Lunch Money, where do you
stand?

Princess Asia: On
the real, when I heard it I was like, ‘Nah, he didn’t do like that.’ But when
you selfish, your family got money, you feel like, you don’t need anybody else;
you can make moves on your own, forget everybody else and forget what everyone
gotta go through to make it.

24: So just to clear
the air, let’s clarify this for a second, did you officially leave the group?

Princess Asia:
I’m not going to say I left Bottom of the Map; I am not going to say that. What
I’m going to say is that if Bottom of the Map call me and say we need to do a
record, I’m gonna do it. But at the same time, my first priority, from now on,
is going to be ‘Princess Asia.’ The way I see it, I can only care about, no one
else is going care about what I got to do. So if they call me, I’m coming, if
they don’t, I’m not going to worry, I’m not going to lose no sleep.

24: So now a solo
artist and a manager, how does that reflect on your signing with Universal and Dadetown,
does it cause any conflicts?

Princess Asia: No,
it doesn’t cause any conflicts. My project is going to be Universal. Hopefully,
it will be Dadetown, Poe Boy, and Universal. There’s just too much going on,
but as long as it brings the checks, it don’t matter if I have to sign to 30
different people under name, we going to get it. Cartoon and I, Cartoon is my
artist, ya’ll just know that. So if I don’t come out first, he gonna make it,
he gonna lead that way for me for like, ‘Okay, let’s do it.’  

24: Let’s get into
your management, I recently interviewed your artist Young Cartoon and he told
me how it all began, can you tell us what major plans you have on marketing
such an animated lyricist and animated being the operative word?

Princess Asia:
Basically, I’m going to hit every situation that I can, like whatever’s going
on, Young Cartoon is going to do it. Let’s like a lot of people told me, when I
do shows, my artist is going to open for me. Best believe Asia do shows, solos,
all that, ‘What’s the Business?’ still gets performed without the group, I’m
still going to make it happen and Young Cartoon is going to be right there,
he’s official, that’s camp, it’s over. 

24: As your solo
career is skyrocketing on its own path, what methods are you taking in working
towards your debut album?

Princess Asia: Most
of the time I’m working with Duval, I got a track coming soon with Proffesir, we gonna do that, then we have
the CP Hollywood track, we gonna hit
them with that. Just know it’s going to be crazy, we going to hit them with a
lot. We got that Big Chuck, we got
that J-Rock, all that.

24: Rumors are
circulating that you are working towards a management deal with Poe Boy Music
Group, can you elaborate on that?

Princess Asia:
Hopefully, I’m praying that somebody goes to the other side of town; I’m not
saying any names, and just say ‘Give us the girl.’ You know, it’s like I’m
ready. Poe Boy is what’s happening, that’s my family since day one, before it
was me and Dadetown. What people don’t know, it was me and Poe Boy. I see now
that’s the way to go, that’s my family since day one and they never going to
stop being my family no matter who I’m signing with

24: With Cartoon by
your side, what projects do you have in the making that you can talk about?

Princess Asia:
There’s so many projects, too many to name right now.

24: How could the

Princess Asia:
Shout outs to Zenn, who damn near ruined my career (laughs) with all them damn
rumors on the site, they were written by him, just for all ya’ll to know. On
the real, I got a lot of words though, but first let me continue my shout outs.

keeping me here, do ya’ll not know, the more you hate me the more I’m going to
love it, and the more I love it, the more problems you going to have getting in
the game for anybody who feel like that. So any of ya’ll that got a problem
with me, that ain’t going to do nothing but make yourself look bad and I’m
speaking out of anger because there’s too much going on about ‘Princess Asia
this or Princess Asia that.’ All the rumors come to a stop right now because
