Check out what our Next In Line Sev & Rise  has to say in their interview below and let us know what you think!

24HHH: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are?

Sev & Rise: What up, we’re Sev & Rise! We both do all types of diff music. Sev is a screamer/rapper for a Crunkcore Group and produces beats on the side. Rise Drums in various projects from Metal to Rap and also happens to Rap. We both have similar styles so we thought it’d be ill to collab on some stoner rap ish.

24HHH: How did you come up with your Producer/Artist name? Tell us about it.

Sev & Rise: We kicked it with the homie Josh White and this fool named Donny and we had a crew that we called, “S.U” which stood for, steez university. Girls would ask what college we went to and we always replied, “S.U” because we thought it was funny and we got them bitches goin. Haha.

We got the names Sev and Rise back when we did graff. Sev would write Vokab7. Rise got the name Rise from his homie and stuck with it ever since.

24HHH: Where are you from, and what was it like growing up there?

Rise: “I was born and raised in Denver but I currently reside in Albuquerque. Love the food and warm weather. But growing up in Denver felt a lot faster because there was always shit to do. Stay lifted..

Sev: I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. Always been a desert boy. It’s filled with a ton of culture, sickest sunsets in the world, good food and good weed 🙂 505 represent!!

24HHH: Who were you raised by? Tell us your family situation. Got any brothers, sisters, or any siblings? Tell us about your childhood, and how it impacted your music?

Sev: “I was raised by wolves”

Rise: “Aliens”

Sev & Rise: Nah, we both started rapping with our cousins. Sev would rap on a karaoke machine in his closet with a beat machine playing in the background, like a pimp. Sev’s mom used to find his freestyle recordings and whoop his ass because every other word was “fuck this, fuck that, suck this, suck that. Haha, Still the same tho. Rise and his cousin would freestyle on a tape recorder over hiphop beats. Made beats on the music generator game for playstation. The good ol days..

24HHH: What age did you start making music?

Rise: “shiiiiiiiit…I’ve been making tracks with my cousin since back in the day and I’ve been drumming and playing the guitar for over 10 years, but i can’t even remember when i started makin it its been too long.

Sev: “I’ve been rapping since I came out the wombbbb. Haha, nah since 96′ and I started fuckin with beats in mid school”

24HHH:  What inspired you to pursue making music?

Rise: “I was always around music. When i was little i would be in my grandmas church and I would be more into the music they would play. I think It just came natural and became an addiction.”

Sev: “I was inspired by the underground hip hop scene. Started as a B-boy, moved onto graffiti, then started rapping. Been infatuated with music ever since”

24HHH: What artists/producers do you work with? Or rubbed shoulders with?

Sev: I’m currently working with Rise (steezclick). Just dropped a new tape and we’re bout to do our first tour as a duet. I’ve also done songs with E40, Paul Wall, DaddyX and others with my crunkcore project (BC13).

Rise: I work with the homies from Steez Click. Ashton Martin, Fresh Baked, Sev Tristan of Ham Squad. Played some Metal shows with various bands where I live, know some fools in that scene to.

24HHH: What else you got coming out? New Album? or Mixtape/EP?

Sev & Rise: We just dropped a brand new free mixtape on Datpiff called “STEEZTAPE”

We’ve got an album in the works. Hopefully we can drop it when we get home from the Smoke Loud, Play Loud tour.

24HHH: Tell us about your newest single ” smoking out 2.0 “, how did you come up with that, share us the story?

Sev & Rise: We stumbled upon a beat with a Pimp C sample that reminded us a lot of an old record we did back when we first started doing Sev & Rise called Smoking Out. So we hit up the homie Ashton, figured we’d keep it Steez and hit em wit that 2.0. So far, so good..

Straight up.

24HHH: Any new travel plans, what you got going on?

Sev & Rise: We’re headlining the Smoke Loud, Play Loud tour this May/June that goes along the east and south coast. If you ain’t doing shit, hit up a show. Bring some weed. Let’s puff 😉

24HHH: What is the biggest thing to happen in your career?

Sev: I played the lowlands music festival in Amsterdam to 40,000+ people. Definitely the largest crowd I’ve ever had the opportunity to play in front of. People were going ham too. We killed that shit.

Rise: Damn i’ve never done that shit, but I’m trying to. I’ve gotten to travel the US tho and played the Unsilent Night festival. It opened my mind and I wanna do more.
