24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.
S-Shata: I’m S-Shata, of sooper star music group. Originally from St.Thomas living in New York.
24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?
S-Shata: I got into rapping in 1998 due to my friends at college , loving and doing it. I was inspired by environment. I always wanted to be an entertainer / rap star but i couldn’t put the words together properly yet.
24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?
S-Shata: Hip-Hop was played in St. Thomas, but everyone more liked Reggae and Calypso. Now it has taken over the airwaves over there also.
24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?
S-Shata: Well my music style is influenced by reggae, calypso, jazz, rock and rap all fused together. My delivery and style is totally different to anyone right now.
S-Shata: I’m pushing my new single Top Back & Faded, feat French Montana. Also I’m working on a new fire track with Red Cafe and Sean Paul from Young Bloods from ATL.
S-Shata: I worked with the Red Spyda camp, Buda da Future and i got a lot of beats from unknowns who liked my movement and grind.
24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?
S-Shata: Yes the feedback is always great and i’m impressed with myself and the people who are working with me of the responses we are getting. It’s a real good feeling to aquire fans through putting out good music.
24: In today’s free download age, what do you need to do to make yourself a household name?
S-Shata: To have real fans who love and respect the culture of Hip-Hop. I have to use the media to my advatage to get to the masses quick with less overhead. I intend to keep putting out music that people can relate to an look foward to hearing. To become a household name i have give the people what they want, yourself.
24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?
S-Shata: The Hip-Hop scene is more difficult to get intonow because talent is 20% and 80% buiness which is a concept most don’t understand. Once your pass the politics and get in the loop the career is great if your buisness minded.
24: Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on?
S-Shata: Designing Sneakers, working on other projects.
24: Where do you see yourself going in 2013 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artist out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?
S-Shata: I see myself doing bigger and better projects, traveling to different places, meeting new people. Helping others where I can. My background, my style, my story, my voice is different and unique. I coming into the game with that New RawEdge/ Music which will attract not just Hip-Hop fans but all fans of music.
