In a city where Hip-Hop swarms all across the streets,
R&B is sometimes overlooked. In the past I’ve covered many Hip-Hop artists
trying to make it in a game that is hard to penetrate; somewhere along the
lines R&B can be forgotten. Some have tried and some have failed to make a
lasting glimmer of light upon the soulful side of the industry that is R&B.
However, one artist on the rise holds down the title for the hardest working
R&B female in the industry and she reigns from Miami by way of Daytona
Beach
. Her footwork and records give proof that
she can definitely hold that title. She has worked with many different people
in the industry, written songs that hit radio stations across the nation, let
me introduce you to Ms. Tarvoria, R&B’s
best kept secret. We are about to let that secret out as 24hourhiphop.com provides you with this exclusive interview with
the one and only.

24: First off,
how has everything been with the most talented Ms. Tarvoria?

Tarvoria:
Everything’s good, hard at work, always hard at work.

24: Let’s get
into your history; can you describe your beginnings?

Tarvoria: In the
beginning, I really didn’t care too much for the education part of the
business; I just wanted to sing, so that’s how my beginning was, a couple of
bad deals. As I got older, I learned things and right now I’m in a better
situation, the best situation. I’ve been singing since I was 8 years old,
professionally since I was 13.

24: What inspired
to pursue your music career?

Tarvoria: Betty Wright.

24: As a matter
of fact let’s get into your music, I’ve heard that not only are you an artist
yourself, you also write for other artists, can you name some for us?

Tarvoria: I wrote
the Dirtbag and Monica record, I wrote the hook. The track was ‘Ain’t Tryna Hear It’
Dirtbag featuring Monica. I’m working on a current project right now; I’m
working with J Rock on the David Lyn project, trying to set up
records for that. Any and everybody trying to write a hit give me a chance; let
me show you what I got.

24: So when you
sit down and write a song, what thoughts do you usually incorporate into them,
personal or non-realistic perspective?

Tarvoria: It
depends, I try to follow the vibe of the music and sometimes if I’m writing for
someone else, I try to take myself out of the record as much as possible. I
recently did a record for Ginuwine
which ended up going to a female artist named Cherry Paris. I wrote that record and it had a lot of soul in it
and it, you know, rejected a lot of men. I had to take myself out of the record
because her voice wasn’t really fitting it. It had to fit her personality
first.

24: I’ve heard a
lot of artists tell me that the beat speaks to them and tells them what to
write, does the same go for you?

Tarvoria: Any
artist, period, would make you feel a certain way, I guess God gave us that inner talent to put words with melodies. So it’s
like, if the beat is telling me I’m going to go lay down, that’s what I’m going
to write, if the beat tells me it’s going to be a good day, I’m going to write
that. You have to follow the music. For a long time before I had great
production, I had to write without music. So I have songs for days.

24: What singles
do you have out right now that we’ve already heard and enjoyed?

Tarvoria: The ‘Slide’
track, which is about three years old and is produced by Gorilla Tek, it’s funny because all my singles have been produced
by Gorilla Tek. So Slide, Probation, and currently Juicy are my singles.

24: Do you have a
current mixtape that you are pushing at the moment?

Tarvoria: I drop
‘Nothing but the Truth Mixtape’, early last year and I’m getting ready to drop
another all original mixtape, I have a series of mixtapes that are right now
under Tavoria.com which I hosted
with several different DJs, DJ 305, DJ Real, Street Pharmacist, so just know what next is real contemporary
R&B, my street album ‘Yours Truly’, I’m pushing for a May 1st release. I
plan to drop that digital, unless somebody decide they need an R&B singer.

24: So listening
to your voice and your delivery, do you think the world is ready for you?

Tarvoria: Of
course, I’m ready for the world, right now is like, I’m so excited about ‘Yours
Truly’ at the same time I’m praying for the right team to get behind my project
because I’m really reaching to be that R&B female. I really think that I’m
the hardest working female in R&B and I stand by that because I’m a
certified go getter. My industry buzz is all from street ties, I never had the
finances t push my projects, so I let my footwork be my finances.

24: How would the
fans go about contacting with you?

Tarvoria: They
could hit me up, www.Tarvoria.com;
ya’ll lookout for the actual site where you’ll be able to purchase all my
mixtapes. ‘Yours Truly’ is dropping out digitally until I get a deal, Yours
Truly will drop May 1st. I’m trying to sell million copies for $2.00 each.
Ya’ll can holla at me: 305-790-9414 or call me personally 305-878-1191,

taking the time out of your busy recording schedule to provide us with this
exclusive, do you have any last words?

Tarvoria: I want
to give a shout out to my management, E.Mason
and Associates
, shout out to my fam Feel
Good Music
, ya’ll lookout for Mr.
Willie Mays
and J.R. Action. So
you know, support me, I am Florida’s R&B,

that’s where I got my spot.
