24: Introduce yourself to everyone that doesn’t already know who you are.

TazzyOnTheBeat: I go by TazzyOnTheBeat and I’m a producer, rapper and singer from Durham, North Carolina.

24: Before we get into your music, can you describe your history about how you got into and what inspired you?

TazzyOnTheBeat: I was raised in Durham, NC by two of the best parents anyone could ask for. In middle school and high school I was mostly an athlete but i still played in the jazz band and did talent shows. Music was my secret passion. I draw influences from everywhere. On the one hand I’m always in search of whats new. I’m on the blogs everyday and not just hip-hop or rap. I’m checking for pop, electro, dubstep whatever I can integrate into my sound. But on the other hand there’s nothing like the classics. My next tape Sex, Drugs and Louis Vuitton is very sample heavy. So far i have stuff from The Chi Lites, Janet Jackson,Herb Alpert, Earth Wind & Fire, ETC.

24: What was the Hip-Hop scene like for you growing up where you’re from?

TazzyOnTheBeat: Being from “Bullcity” there was not a huge Hip-Hop scene while I was growing up but I did get to witness great hip hop talent and learn from it. I can remember as a kid the group “Little Brother” coming to my middle school and sparking my interest about being a rapper. Not to mention the world famous 9th Wonder taught classes at North Carolina Central where my pops worked. I used to sneak over there all the time.

24: What makes you Unique as a artist and different from other rappers out now?

TazzyOnTheBeat: The fact that besides the intro track to my mixtape, I produced the whole thing myself. I’m a hybrid. Why would you go get a rapper, a singer and a producer when you could get one guy that can do all three and give you a dope record.

24: Tell us about what you are working on.

TazzyOnTheBeat: Right now, I’m working with a couple major and independent artists on new records and also starting on my next project “Sex, Drugs and Louie Vuitton.” Also I’ve been getting calls about scoring different indie movies so I’m excited to start working on those.

24: What producers have you worked with and who would you like to work with in the future?

TazzyOnTheBeat: For the most part, I’ve produced the majority of my music but I know a lot of dope producers like Mark “The Mogul” Jackson and DJ Babey Drew personally so I’m sure we’ll cook up something dope one day. I just believe in letting the music happen organically.

24: Are you happy with the feedback you have been getting from people on material you have released?

TazzyOnTheBeat: Yeah, it’s been dope to hear people appreciate something I put so much into and anything else has been constructive criticism. I take it into account and keep on rocking out.

24: In today’s free download age, what do you need that you don’t to make yourself a household name?

TazzyOnTheBeat: It would be dope to have control over first impression. True connections are made when people see your vision in the way that you saw it when you created it.

24: How do you feel about the current state of the Hip-Hop scene?

TazzyOnTheBeat: I think it should be appreciated for what it is. I’m sure in 2018 people are going to look back and say Hip-Hop sure isn’t what it was in 2011. So I don’t focus on the negative side of things. I just enjoy everybody that’s creating right now. We just had two of the biggest names in the industry put out an album together, I feel that competitive spirit brewing again like the old days and I’m a competitor so I want in.

Outside of the music, what else are you currently working on?

TazzyOnTheBeat: Well the crew is called #GOLDTEAM so we’re working on designing the apparel, website and our own color “icogold.” I’ve always been a big picture person so when the time is right, we’re going to be ready.

24: Where do you see yourself going in 2011 and how do you plan to separate yourself from the other artists out today to get the recognition you feel you deserve?

TazzyOnTheBeat: I’m trying to work. Point blank period. I’m producing for whoever, doing commercials, scoring movies and so many more things right now. The plan is to be undeniable.

24: How can fans go about contacting you?
