24: What made you want to pick up a Mic?
Tyga: One day when I was cleaning up the house with my mother and a Busta Rhymes video came on and that just inspired me to want to rap. The way he was so animated and his lyrics and I thought to myself like how can I rap like Busta.
24: For those readers that may know you from your new single “CoConut Juice” but may not know your story and how you got into the game lets go back for them and let them know about the hard work that has got you to this point where your album is dropping June.10?
Tyga: It all started in my room recording songs and putting out mixtapes. I even dropped out of High School to pursue this music thing full time. I gave my CD to Travis (of GYM Class Hero) and kept it real with him like its room quality but let me know what you think. He listened to it and loved it. An about a year later some how it got in the hands of Pete of Fall Out Boy. I met him at a show and he told me to rap for him I did and he signed me to his label. Ever since then all of these other doors seem to just start opening. I been performing on tour and doing shows where people don’t even know who the hell I am but I was making my presents felt and gaining exposure.
24: Tell me how did you and Lil Wayne link up which lead you to becoming Young Money also because like you said earlier you were already signed by Pete from Fall Out Boy?
Tyga: I linked up with him at the VMA’s last year about 6,7 months ago. I wasn’t signed when I did that show. I just inked my deal about February of this year. I met him and exchanged numbers and we stayed in touch. I was sending him songs , maybe like a million because I didn’t know if he was getting them or not. One day he called me and told me he wanted to fly me out to Atlanta to do some songs and the song I did with him is the record which will be on the The Carter III album. I went on tour with him and recording and recording paying my dues and he was like you Young Money!
24: How would you best describe your style because your able to do a song like “Cocount Juice” to a record for Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III?
Tyga: I think its different for someone from the outside looking in because I just try to express myself and it comes out how it comes out. I don’t even realize how my styles varies, etc. I wouldn’t say I’m an emotional person but I try to make sure I get my point across and make people are listening. You can say someone thing and no one listens because of how you said it.
24: Do you think thats one of the things that separates you from other new artist and will keep you around for many more years to come?
Tyga: Definitely, a lot of dudes look at today while I’m making music for the future.
24: What should I look forward to from your debut album “No Introduction”?
Tyga: Basically a variety of music not just one big bag of chips, its more like a variety bag they sell at the super market. I got female songs, stories, party records, etc.
24: A lot of artist always say that their first album means the most to them so do feel any pressure at all to make it a classic?
Tyga: No, not at all because I’m not the one to have a million songs. I’m more about quality over anything else. So every song I make on a high level and I feel real confident about it and I let Wayne hear it the other day and he thought it was going to be a “Breath Of Fresh Air” to the game.
24: Outside of the album what projects should everyone know about?
Tyga: Yeah, I got a couple of mixtapes I’m dropping actually on May.10 and I’m dropping one on the 10th of every month because my album comes out June.10.
Working on the Young Money compilation album coming out in the fall. Just look out for me to be every where I’m trying to get my Lil Wayne and T-Pain on (lol)
24: Any final words you want to say to the people?
Tyga: No Introduction in stores June.10 and I just want to thank everyone that doubted me. Not to mention everyone who has been down with me from day one because a lot of people that has been down with you from day one get mad at you because they now have to share you with the world and see the people that have not been around for the long hall around you. So shout out to those people who have been holding me down since. The true listeners!
