Who are you? Where are you from? What is your background / nationality?
Young Sovl I’m From Broward County, Florida born and raised.
How did you get your Artist name?
I got my artist name from my favorite music, soul music. I’m talking Marvin Gaye, Ron Isley, and Otis Redding. The V in Sovl is for various or variety. I don’t discriminate when it come to creativity. All music hits the Soul, it depends on what you’re in to.
What motivated you to get into Music?
If it wasn’t for me dancing, I would probably never have made a song in my life. I knew what I liked to do which was to dance to music and if a song didn’t deliver, I’d make my own beat and words I could dance to. High school Chorus and doing opera in college just opened up my range and creativity.
What makes you unique / stand out as an Artist compared to the rest?
I smile, I’m not a “cool” artist. Or a “hard” artist. I want people to be comfortable with having a good time without having to be judged or thinking they have to be hard to fit in. Nah bruh, be you. It’s ok to be happy. It’s ok to have not have struggled.
Let our readers know some of the names of people you have worked with. Provide references and write what you liked about working with them?
I managed DubThaProdigy, BareEBandz, Patswazy, Ray Ali(producers) we worked with Sy Ari Da Kid, Trae Tha Truth, Kevin Cossom, Sha Hustle, Honorable C Note, Young Dolph, Lajan Slim, Johnny OZ. And that’s just a few off top that actually released the music. I’ve never sent out more beats or spoken to more people on Instagram in my life than when I managed these producers, I’m talking about getting up at 2AM to catch Sy Ari with Timbaland and Tink at hit factory or calling out of work to help fix the beats for Kev. Pat was one of the originators of Broward sound when he asked me if he should send that pack of beats to Lajan I was like hell yea he literally just got signed you know they about to push him heavy. Next thing you know “Haitians” was everywhere. It was just a dope experience to be apart of all this.
What are somethings you would like to achieve and why?
I want to win awards, I want my million plus record sales, I want to put others in position to win. I know what it’s like to feel like your alone and keeping it all together by yourself. It’s been deals I’ve helped my producers get from sync licensing to cash money pubs that I never got a cut out of. So I feel like I deserve the blessings that are supposed to come. I feel as if all this staying up late, performing, and sending music out would be in vein if I don’t get my Grammy or hit #1 on billboard or travel the world and put my family in a nice crib.
What are some past achievement worth mentioning?
I got paid $4500 just to write a few songs over the summer for some independent artists in Atlanta.
On a personal level, how would you describe yourself in detail?
I’m respectful, I don’t curse in front of ANYBODY especially my Grandma. I’m still living the way I was raised. Old black folk upbringing, cookouts and waterslides in the front yard. I still don’t smoke in front of my parents or anybody at that.
What is your latest single? What are you working on?
Young Sovl- Groove is out on all platforms so definitely go check that out. But right now I’m working on another single called Wanna Have Fun and a project called S O V L F O O D . You’ll feel every word and every beat.
In this music industry, what is something you learned the hard way?
I learned to be patient, and not be anxious for just anything. When you start to lose patience and focus on the end result… you will lose your mind. This doesn’t come over night.
How long have you been doing music? What got you into Music?
I’ve been doing my own music for about 2 years and my friends back at Fisk University put me on music, and the “cool” lifestyle. YNGBNDZ and Will. Shouts out to them.
In 5 years, where do you see yourself in the music industry and why?
In 5 years I see myself as big as Travis Scott because I really create music for the love of it. And I put on a show because it’s in my nature as a entertainer to do so. Anybody whose seen me perform know the Vibes.
Who were some music influencers you listened to while growing up? What do you remember when you think about them?
Marvin Gaye, Ron Isley, Michael Jackson, Prince. The production they had was impeccable and the quality of their voice from falsetto to the undertones. It was just incredible. They made music that stuck with you. Undeniable music. Music for the Soul.
To close out for your current and future fans, what are some last words and shout outs you want to give?
Don’t let anybody make you them. If you’re going to be someone, be you. It’s much better, trust me. And it’s ok to smile. Man shouts out everyone helping out Big Chuck, Mr 24Hr, Cheech, DJ Sco, Ray Ali, Jgz and Damis, Fasa, YNGBNDZ, Fresh Timeless, Nelz, Taco I appreciate yall 1000%
