This past weekend was another star studded event with the Grammys taking place last weekend and this weekend being the 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend. Starting things off on Friday the Celebrity game which Justin Beiber took home MVP Honors also showcased artist such as Common and Trey Songz to name a few who also shocked me and had some game on the basketball court. Followed by the Rookie vs Sophomores which point guard John Wall took home MVP after breaking the Assist record with 22(The Record was 17)Assist and lead the Rookies to a 148-140 victory despite a brilliant effort by Cousins dropping 33 points. Stephon Curry took home the trophy for the Skills Challenge and the anticipated Three-Point Shoot Out which Ray Allen was the likely hero to win was won by the Miami Heats own James Jones as well as the Slam-Dunk Contest which was won by the Rookie Sensation Blake Griffin even though he had some great competition it was his last Dunk which he jumped over a “Car” that made him able to take home the trophy! Of course the main event was the actual 2011 NBA All-Star Game showdown with East vs West which turned out to be one of the best performances NBA fans has seen in years. With great games played by both East & West players such as Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant to Lebron James and A.Stoudemire kept the game competitive through out. But it was the West who keep a double digit lead through out the game expect for the 4th Quarter where things got really close. But the 2011 NBA All-Star MVP Kobe Bryant who scored 37 points and grabbed 14 rebounds(Tied with Bob Pettit after capturing his 4th All-Star Game MVP honors)and Kevin Durant put the West up for good at the end resulting in a 148-143 win for the West. But yet in still history was made by Lebron James who lead all East All-Star with 29 points, 12 rebounds and dished out 10 assist earned him only the second Triple-Double in NBA All-Star Game History behind the one and only Michael Jordan!
