HOT OFF THE PRESS:
Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry is struggling for his life after falling out of the back of a pickup during what police called a domestic dispute with his fiancee
on Wed. . Henry was discovered in the road in south Charlotte seemingly
suffering potentially terminal injuries, according to
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
Police spokesman Robert Fey claimed officials were stationed close to the 26-year-old Henry’s hospice
room. He had no info on Henry’s condition, but said that he was alive.
We ask everybody to hope for Chris, agent Andy Simms of PlayersRep
Sports said in a press release. We also suggest that you respect the
privacy of Chris’ family.
Chris is indeed struggling for his life tonight, and our best wishes ( are ) with him in this very tough time.
Police stated that a dispute started at a home just before 12 p.m.
and Henry leapt into the bed of the pickup van as his fianceewhom they
didn’t identify by name was driving away from the home. The domestic
situation continued between the operator and Mr. Henry, the police
announced in an announcement. At some point while she was driving, Mr.
Henry came out of the back of the vehicle. Henry was found on a home
street about half a mile ( eight hundred meters ) from the home when
police were called to the scene. Fey would not identify the lady and
announced no charges would be filed Wed. . Henry is engaged to Loleini
Tonga, and the couple has been raising 3 kids. Henry was away from the
team after breaking his left forearm in a win over Baltimore on
November . Eight. He had surgery and was placed on season-ending
wounded reserve following the game. Charlotte is home to hisfiancee’s elders. Team spokesman Jack
Brennan stated that he had restricted information apart from Henry was
badly hurt. We are aware he was in an accident and that his wounds are
really serious, Brennan announced.
We are staying in contact with the situation and are prepared to
supply whatever help we can. Henry is in the last year of his contract
with the Bengals, who let him go after his 5th arrest following the
2007 season. Owner Mike Brown ( notes ) then brought him back one or
two months later, signing him to a two year deal. Henry had stayed out
of difficulty withthe police since his return. In a chat with The Cincinnati Enquirer in October, Henry credited his fiancee
for helping him straighten out his life, asserting, she has been a
gigantic help. She is been here with me and going thru things and
helping out on my side. We have got the kids, and she has my back with
everything I have needed. From the start, his career has been
sidetracked by off-the-field issues. Henry frequently got in difficulty
at West Virginia, where previous Mountaineers coach Rich Rodriguez told
him that he was an humiliation to himself and the program. Most groups
to shied away from Henry in the 2005 draft.
Cincinnati was the sole one that brought him in for a visit, and
warned him he had to stay clear of difficulty if he was about to make
it in the NFL. Then, the Bengals drafted him in the 3rd round. His
ability to run past defenders made him an essential component of the
Bengals’ run to the playoffs in 2005. He caught Carson Palmer’s ( notes
) only pass in a playoff loss to Pittsburgh. His newbie season also
marked the start of his issues in the NFL. He was detained for
marijuana possession in December 2005, and again on a weapons charge a
month later in Florida. He was restrained 4 times in all, drawing
repeated suspensionstwo games in 2006, the initial half of the 2007
season for violating the league’s conduct policy. Prior to the start of
the season, he got a tattoo that announced Sanctified below his left
ear, evidence of how many possibilities he has had. I do not live the
way I did in the past, Henry claimed, in a chat with The Associated
Press during coaching camp.
I sort of plan my days out and take it one day at a time
and keep away from the incorrect folk. I am not boogying any more. I am
just targeted on soccer at the moment and my folks. I do not associate
with the same folk. I have completely modified everything..
