With the every sports fan watching the 2010-2011 Season opened with the most talked about Miami Heats up against the Eastern Conference Champion Boston Celtics taken place in Boston. The game started out almost perfect for the Celtics who ended the first quarter 16-9 and a half-time lead of 45-30 with Rondo dishing out 8 assist in the just the first half. Picking up where they left off from their incredible playoff run into the finals before losing Game 7 to the Lakers for the World Championship. Boston’s team effort with keys plays from the teams leader Kevin Garnett to Pierce who poured in 19 points and players great defense on Lebron James. Ray Allen did exactly what NBA fans around the league has seen him do time after time even at 30 plus ending up with a Celtic team high 20 points. An it was the newest addition Shaquile Oneal who many including myself thought he should retire played huge productive minutes for the Celtics which is exactly why Doc Rivers brought him over to do. Taking things into his own hands in the second half Lebron put the heats on his back towards the end of the 3rd quarter and made the Celtics double-digit lead into a game heading into the 4th Quarter bring it all the way back to being down by only 3 points. The Heats coach sat James down for a rest and brought in Wade which I’m sure many Heat fans may have thought was a bad move with Lebron in a zone. At that point in the game King James was seemingly the only player counting to keep fighting and bring the team back outside a few points from his teammates. Wade coming back from his injury and pretty much not being able to play anything other then 3 minutes in the pre-season showed. But it was the shooting of Ray Allen at the end of the game which closed the deal and made sure Boston started off the season 1-0 with a 88-80 victory. Despite 31 points from Lebron James and a bad night from Dwayne Wade outside of his 6 assist and not much from Chris Bosh or the rest of the Heats.

Lakers Defeat The Houston Rockets 112-110

In Game 2 of TNT double header the Lakers took on the Rockets at home in LA which was also “Ring Day” for the 2009-2010 World Champions. The Rockets got off to a great start and pretty much contained the game with a 1st Quarter lead of 33-26 and ending the 2nd quarter in the same fashion with a 62-51 lead and the same in the 3rd quarter leading 82-77.  Despite good scoring efforts from Kobe Bryant coming off his knee surgery and still dropped 27 points and 7 assist in 37 minutes played and Paul Gasol with a game high 29 points and 11 rebounds the Rockets still lead through out majority of the game. The Houston Rockets simply matched the “Lakers Duo” with a mixture of scoring with an all-round great team effort with Martin dropping 26 points and a incredible scoring and defense game by Scola grabbing 17 boards and big shots from Brooks as well. But in the 4th quarter the it was really the “Lakers Bench” lead by key help from players such as Lamar Odom, Steve Blake(who hit a huge 3 pointer which gave the lakers their final lead), Matt Barnes and Shannon Brown. Brown who had a great offensive and defensive night came up huge scoring 14 of his 16 points in the 4th quarter. An even though the Lakers won 112-110 over the Rockets, the Rockets showed everyone around the league that they are a team of the future with or without their Franchise Center Yao Ming.
