After all the debated discussions all year about who should win the MVP and why, the talk is over. The 2009 MVP Award was presented to Lebron James by David Stern before Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Race for MVP was a close one and Lebron received 109 of a possible 121 first place votes to easily pass Kobe Bryant of the Lakers. Lebron totaled 1,172 points in balloting by media members in the United States and Canada. Kobe Bryant who was last year’s winner received 2 first place votes and finished with 698 points. Heat Guard Dwayne Wade came in Third with 680 points and was named first on seven ballots. The Orlando Magic’s Dwight Howard came in Fourth and the Hornets Chris Paul in Fifth.

Lebron James led his team to a record 66 wins in the regular season and to the top overall seed in the Playoffs. Lebron James is the youngest player to win the award since Moses Malone back in the 1978-79 season. The regular season was filled with spectacular plays, nail biting finishes and last minute heroics. The trio of players that were fighting for the MVP (Lebron, Kobe,Wade) were all teammates last summer on the U.S Olympic team that won Gold,  it’s no wonder they all tried to upstage each other night after night, all year long. Lebron James wore an exclusive pair of shoes the night of the ceremony, a version of his Nike Zoom Lebron IV’s were on display and in motion for the game. The shoes will be on sale at the end of the month and I guarantee you that they will go fast.
