Last week it was reported that 3 time Nba AllStar Denver Nuggets Foward Carmello Anthony was headed else where for the 2010-2011 season he was reportedly in a four team blockbuster deal that was suppose to land him with the Nets but as of late it has been said that talks for Mello between The Nuggets & The Nets are no longer existent due to the complexity of the trade. It is still possible the Nets and Nuggets can revive the trade with different teams and different players. An NBA Source believed the Nets were simply calling Denver’s bluff by denouncing the trade.Nets GM Billy King preached patience Sunday and hinted that a deal could be reached in December, when 2010 free agents can be traded – but a team official left the impression that the original template was kaput following this text message Tuesday:
“It’s not ideal,” Brook Lopez admitted.
According to one NBA source, Denver was also insisting that the Nets give up Troy Murphy for oft-injured ex-Net Kenyon Martin, which may have held up the deal. Another league source would not confirm the Martin swap was on Denver’s evolving list of demands, but said it wouldn’t be surprising given the Nuggets’ desire to unload players and
cut salary.
In the end, the Nuggets hurt the deal – perhaps the best they’re going to see for a disgruntled Anthony – by stalling and reneging. Anthony arrived in Denver on Monday for the Nuggets’ media day, and cut short a press conference that did nothing to quash what has been reported for months: He is not happy in Denver and wants out.
“I’m here today,” Anthony said in Denver. “Whatever the future holds, it holds. I’m leaving my options open right now.”
In the summer, Anthony’s representatives from Creative Artists Agency- the same company that represents LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, and was described by one league executive as the “new mafia of the NBA” – provided the Nuggets with a trade wish list that included the Nets, Knicks and Bulls. Although Anthony doesn’t have a no-trade clause, his approval remains important because he’s in the final year of his deal and any team would want to secure a long-term extension. As first reported by The News, Anthony was on board with a deal to the Nets, while his unwillingness to play for teams such as Golden State and the Sixers killed other negotiations.
