Last Thursday was the 2009 NBA Draft, here are the first round picks and the teams that picked them.

1. Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers)
A dominant and physical forward from Oklahoma with outstanding size and strength who was an early entry candidate for the 2009 NBA Draft. Griffin was named Naismith, Wooden and AP Player of the Year and National Player of the Year honors as a sophomore in 2008-09.

2. Hasheem Thabeet (Memphis Grizzlies)
A UCONN center, Thabeet’s a Two-Time NABC National Defensive Player of the Year and Shares the UConn record for most blocked shots in a game with 10, and did so three different times.

3. James Harden (Oklahoma Thunder)
Being one of the most complete guards in the draft Harden was named an AP First-Team All American and the Pac-10 Player of the Year. Harden played for Arizona State.

4. Tyreke Evans (Sacramento Kings)
Evans is a natural scorer with great strength, quickness, body control and footwork. This freshman from Memphis is also a great ball-handler with good vision.

5. Ricky Rubio (Minnesota Timberwolves)
This player from Europe won the FIBA Young Player of the Year award in 2007 and 2008, honoring him as the top player in Europe under the age of 22. Rubio has skills of the game a step ahead of everybody else.
