The Cavaliers had again another relentless game this weekend against the Atlanta Hawks. Lebron James, unarguably the best player in the league, scored 47 points in one his best performances in this year’s playoffs. They lead the series 3-0, and it may be their second postseason sweep. Many records were set Saturday, for example, James is now the only player besides Michael Jordan to ever score 47 points, grab 12 rebounds, and assist in scoring 8 times.  James also scored more free-throws (12) than the Hawks attempted (11). They are also the first team to win seven straight double-figure games in the playoffs since the Indiana Pacers in 2004. The Cavalier’s Ilgauskas scored 14 and West helped with 12. Joe Johnson of the Hawks led the team with 21 points and Josh Smith scored 18, but it was not enough. The next game of this series will be May 11th at 7:00 pm.

The Boston Celtics evened the series yesterday with the Orlando Magic at the last second as Glen “Big Baby” Davis scored a 21-foot jumper. Glen Davis also scored seven of Boston’s 16 points and grabbed five rebounds in the final quarter. Dwight Howard had 23 points and 17 rebounds and Lewis also put up 22 for the Magics. Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 27 points and Rondo with 14 to hold off Orlando. Before the game began, there was a brief moment of silence for Hall of Fame coach Chuck Daly who passed away Saturday. Daly coached the Orlando Magic previously for 2 seasons, but he’s most known for coaching the Detroit Pistons in their back-to-back championship years 1989-90, and coaching the Olympic gold-medal winning original “Dream Team”.

The Los Angeles Lakers had the worst weekend after losing to Yao Ming-less Houston Rockets. Aaron Brooks of the Houston Rockets scored a career-high 34 points, and Shane Battier helped by sinking five 3-pointers and putting up 23 points. The Rockets beat the Lakers 99-87 on Sunday to even their Western Conference semifinal. Yao Ming broke his left foot and is out for the remainder of the playoffs. He is the second star from the Rockets lineup injured, the other is Tracy McGrady. Paul Gasol led the Lakers with 30 points, and Kobe put up a pitiful 15 points. Lamar Odom fell down hard late in the game and was out for the remainder due to back spasms. Game 5 of this series will be tomorrow in Los Angeles.
