With Game 4 set for tonight at 9pm on ABC in Dallas with the Mavericks having a chance to even thing up or face another defeat and cost themselves a shot at an NBA Championship with no team in NBA History has been able to win a series from being down 3 games. Through out the playoffs Dirk Nowitzki has been playing like a future “Hall-Of Fame” first ballad, Leading his team through each and every series from the Blazers, Lakers and Thunder. With this years addition of Chandler added to the Mavericks it seems as though the team has been able to incorporate defense as well as offense which has lead the team to this years NBA Finals. The last time Dirk was in the NBA Finals it was actually against the Miami Heats for those of you that may have forgot and it was Dwayne Wade who stole the show as well as the Finals MVP and NBA Championship from Dirk who lead his team to an early 2-0 series lead. So with the NBA younger teams such as the Knicks, Bulls, Thunder and Heats only getting better and older teams such as Spurs, Lakers and Celtics getting older the Mavs time is now. Many players don’t get too many chances at making it to the finals and winning it so tonight Dallas has to come out and play tonight’s Game 4 like it’s their last and final game of the season.
All year is seems as though it was the Heats against the world and critic from Arena to Arena booed the visiting Heats and took shots as the Heats struggled early on in the season. But Wade, Lebron, Bosh and their head coach all stuck together and played great defense even when their offense struggled and started to win games. Personally I feel as though both Dwayne Wade and Lebron James had a shot at winning this years MVP award with the Heats having a 58-24 regular season record. I look at things in boxing terms and in boxing to beat the champion you have to knock him out, you can’t win by a decision against the World Champion. So in my eye’s even though Derrick Rose had an amazing year I don’t think Lebron James got out done with his team finishing #2 in the Eastern Conference and Lebron playing an all-around team basketball game similar to previous back to back winner Steve Nash. The Heats were able to put their ego’s aside and back up all of their words by making it past the Sixers, Celtics and Bulls. Taking turns being the man on any given night Wade & Lebron clearly was too much for the #1 Bulls Team who lead the entire NBA with the most wins in the regular season as well as the defending Eastern Conference Champion Celtics. An speaking of the Celtics, they were the only recent team to come together for the 2007 NBA season and win an NBA title together. So will the Heats be the next NBA team to do so? Watching the Heats all season and seeing them turn things around after each and every losing streak I personally think the Heats deserve to be in the NBA Finals and win their teams history second NBA Championship. The Heats continue to show others teams around the league that even win two super stars on your team it’s still all about team defense and it’s defense that has the Heats with a 2-1 series lead in the NBA Finals.
