On Thursday’s (June 4) episode of #EverydayStruggle, Nadeska, Wayno and DJ Akademiks start off the show discussing the arrest and charges against the four Minnesota officers involved in the killing of George Floyd. Soon after, they celebrate Ella Jones becoming the first black female Mayor of Ferguson, Missouri. Next, the trio speaks on former POTUS Barack Obama urging black people to ‘feel hopeful even as [they] may feel angry,’ and Mayor Bill De Blasio feeling the pressure to make change. Later, the EDS crew reacts to Warner Music Group offering $100 Million to social justice organizations, and Ben & Jerry’s statements in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. After, the crew shares their disdain for NFL player Drew Brees’ comments, saying that he ‘will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country.’ They also speak on LeBron James and other players responding to Brees on social media. Afterwards, the crew shares their thoughts on Trina getting backlash over calling protestors in Miami ‘animals.’ Lastly, Kendrick Lamar’ ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ re-enters Apple’s charts and the crew reacts.
