On the Tuesday July 23rd, episode of #EverydayStruggle, Nadeska, Wayno and DJ Akademiks are joined by 21-year-old rapper YBN Cordae, who’s gearing up to release his debut album ‘The Lost Boy’ on July 26. Cordae opens up about his recording process — including working with J. Cole and Meek Mill — not caring about first-week sales and whether or not he feels pressure with so many big industry co-signs behind him from the likes of Dr. Dre. Cordae also shares his thoughts on rap’s generational gap and explains the big difference between OGs and “Old N-gg-s” which he first started to address in a response to Cole’s ‘1985.’ Later in the episode, he gives an update on his YBN crew members, Almighty Jay and Nahmir, his thoughts on rappers using ghostwriters today, the state of female rap in 2019 and his thoughts on his 2019 XXL Freshman Class peers.
