18-year-old Lil Tjay’s career was already on the rise before linking up with his Columbia Records labelmate for their hit “Pop Out” earlier this year. Although Tjay didn’t start taking music seriously until 2016—when he was incarcerated in a youth detention center for a robbery—the South Bronx native quickly developed a following after being let out of prison.
