When it comes to Seattle Hip Hop music, if the first name that comes to mind is Sir Mix-a lot, Mr. “Back Got Back” himself, then the home of Starbucks and Amazon is also recognized as being the birthplace of the rapper Macklemore of Irish heritage. Discovering the group Digital Underground at six years old introduced Macklemore to hip hop, then eventually as a teenager he became influenced by Nas, Hieroglyphics, Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, Talib Kweli, Aceyalone, and Freestyle Fellowship. Fast-forward to releasing the Platinum blockbuster album The Heist in 2012 and the not so huge follow-up This Unruly Mess I’ve Made in 2016 with his partner Ryan Lewis, it is strange to think that Macklemore doesn’t appear to be the large popular fixture of the rap scene like he once was. What exactly happened to Macklemore?
