It’s not every day that you come across a crew of young rappers with a name like Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All. OFWGKTA, normally just called Odd Future, was originally a collective that included the equally colorful-named creatives Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, Frank Ocean, Syd, Casey Veggies, Domo Genesis, Hodgy, Left Brain, Mike G, Taco, L-Boy, Matt Martians, Pyramid Vritra, Jasper Dolphin, and The Super 3. This Los Angeles, California musical madhouse hit a lot of high levels of exposure. Tyler the Creator opened the flood gates with himself and Hodgy Beats making their grand entrance to television on February 16, 2011 when they performed “Sandwitches” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. This was just five days after Tyler unleashed his hit single “Yonkers” that has amassed over 94 million views on YouTube.
Television continued to be an additional platform for Odd Future to thrive thanks to their Adult Swim skit show called Loiter Squad. Their clothing line named Golf Wang has consisted of trendy multicolor merchandise with bizarre surrealist imagery. Also, their mobile app
Golf Media offers exclusive interviews, cartoons, and behind the scenes footage. Odd Future has even extended its brand into the manifestation of their own annual Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles, which features members of Odd Future, as well as other popular music acts that have included Mac Miller, Migos, Vince Staples, Kid Cudi, ASAP Rocky, Jorja Smith, and 2 Chainz. Therefore, with all of that success and marketable offshoots of their charismatic concoctions, why exactly are people now having to ask the question: what happened to OFWGKTA?
