Rewind back to 2014, when the Paterson New Jersey rapper/singer Fetty Wap exploded on the music scene with his independently-released debut hit single “Trap Queen.” The melodic musical composition consisted of three free-flowing verses provided over a track constructed by Paterson-based producer Tony Fadd of RGF Productions. In “Trap Queen,” Fetty’s lyrical depiction of his relationship with his girlfriend consisted of making street money, getting high, hitting the strip club, going on shopping sprees, and working their way up to a pair of twin Lamborghinis. This shared lifestyle was recorded, uploaded to SoundCloud, and by the end of 2014 – secured a commercial release through the Atlantic Records-backed label 300 Entertainment pioneered by Lyor Cohen, originally from the Def Jam dynasty. – Fast forward to now and things aren’t looking the same. So what happened?
