While he successfully robbed banks in the past, he thought he had an inside track for this particular heist. The mother of someone who owed him money worked at a bank, so Alan threatened the man to get his mother on board with the robbery. Alan’s plan was to use a fake bomb to rob $250,000 from the bank. However, the mother informed the authorities ahead of time and a tracking device was planted with the money. Alan was arrested after a high speed chase and sent to prison for the first time.
