He explained that he was financially fine after being laid off due to savings and a severance package, leaving Aloe Blacc to focus solely on his music career. Big things started happening in his career after HBO picked up his song “I Need a Dollar” for the TV show “How to Make it in America.”

Moving along, Aloe Blacc spoke about meeting Avicii and working on “Wake Me Up,” which is the biggest song either has ever done. When speaking about his relationship with Avicii, Aloe Blacc explained that it was hard to develop a personal relationship given that Avicii was on tour for 300 days out of the year.
