In this clip, Kal Dawson spoke with Shawn Prez and revealed how much money he began making at his peak while selling crack in the 1980s. He talked about his dad being in the streets and said his mother was a cop which added an interesting wrinkle to Kal’s foray into the streets at such a young age.

Moving along, Kal Dawson took Shawn through his first bid in prison stemming from a drug trafficking charge in North Carolina. He then detailed how it ended up at Def Jam as an A&R and eventually the president of a major hip-hop label where he secured four Grammys during his time at the helm.

He then discussed his ties to 50 Cent, revealing that Fif’s mother was a reputed street figure and acted as his mentor in many ways. He also recounted being in the car with 50 the night he was shot 9 times and said he was hit a few times as well.
