In this clip, Chris “Kid” Reid speaks about growing up in New York and going to the Bronx High School of Science, which touts prestigious alumni including Jon Favreau, Jon Cryer, and Neil deGrasse Tyson. Chris stated that he was nerdy in high school until his sophomore year when he discovered hip-hop, which he explained took some focus away from school. He went on to speak about being part of the rising hip-hop scene in New York in the late 1980’s after linking up with Christopher “Play” Martin, who he formed Kid ‘N Play with. He also revealed that he grew up with Salt ‘N Pepa and Martin Lawrence, who Chris says worked at a gas station across from the Sears service center where he worked.
