However, the former heavyweight champion was back in the ring less than two years later after Don King gave him $500,000 on the spot to fight Mike Tyson. While Holmes believed he could beat Tyson, he was only given a few weeks to prepare for the fight after the date was pushed up. Holmes ended up losing the fight but was paid $3.5 million. While Holmes referred to Tyson as a good guy, he talked about accurately predicting that Tyson would encounter personal trouble and end up in prison.
