With the 2012 presidential election just days away, 2 Chainz knows how important it is for everyone’s vote to be cast.

In 2008 he learned that even after being convicted of a felony at age 15,  he was able to vote in the upcoming election.

The rapper falls into the category of some 20 million Americans who have felony convictions.  2 Chainz has partnered with the campaign Respect My Vote to encourage felons to vote and have their voices heard.

“When I talk sometimes people listen, and this is something I want them to listen to,” he told Fuse News.

He explained that after becoming a felon you become “disenfranchised and don’t have a say-so over what goes on in your own community.”

The Respect My Vote web site gives details on what ex-felons need to do in order to vote next Tuesday.

“November 6, where will you be?  I’ll be voting,” he said.
