The 2006 Justo Faison Mixtape Awards took place last night,
December 7, at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY. In what was supposed to be
a memorial for founder, Justo Faison, who died in a tragic
car accident in 2005, was far from that. A night that was suppose to be peaceful
ended up being chaotic.
Certain attendees who showed up to the theater late, showed up to a suprise
as the doors were locked upon trying to enter. The security closed the doors
at a certain time and if you we late, you were locked out. The angry attendees
began to complain and argue with the security outside.
Inside the theater was even more chaotic. First, when the audience was asked
to be quiet for a moment of silence for Justo Faison, they were uncooperative
and just contiued to make noise. When Clinton Sparks was awarded
‘Best Club DJ’, he was greeted with many ‘boos’ from the audience.
Agallah from the Diplomats got into a fight with a member
of G-Unit and got his ass beat. On top of getting an ass whipping, he got his
chain stolen right off his neck.
Moments later, Tony Yayo got into an argument with Jimmy
Henchman, Game’s manager, obviously over some G-Unit/Game beef. The
Czar DJ’s, Henchman’s DJ crew, didn’t help the situation by getting on stage
and continuously shouting out Game.
The night eventually was ended early as the police shut down the event. In
what was suppose to be a peaceful event dedicated to Mixtape Awards founding
member Justo Faison, it all turned sour because of disorganization and various
fights.
