Last night was the 2009 BET Music Awards. Singer, actor, and comedian Jamie Foxx hosted the show. The Pre-show featured performances from new artists like New Boys, Jeremih and Miami’s own Pleasure P. The actual show was dedicated to the late Michael Jackson, The King of Pop. New Edition, Jamie Foxx, Neyo, Tyrese, and Ciara are just a few people who sang some of Michael’s songs.
The show also had performances from artists such as Beyonce to Young Money and made it a must-see and had the highest views last night. The awards gave their annual Lifetime Achievement Award to the Ojay’s who performed their hits “Money” and “She Used To Be My Girl.” According to fans watching on Twitter, the best performances were Maxwell who sang “Pretty Wings” off his upcoming album, Soulja Boy, Beyonce and Jay Z, who performed the controversial D.O.A (Death of Auto-tunes). The worse performances were Keri Hilson & Young Money featuring Drake who performed the whole “Every Girl” song sitting on a stool due to a torn acl.
Alicia Keys was honored for her tremendous contributions to Africa and their ongoing AIDS epidemic. Wyclef Jean was also given the Humanitarian award for his work in Haiti. Neyo and Beyonce won the best male/female artist awards and the male/female hiphop artist awards went to Lil Wayne and Lil Mama. Beyonce also won the best video award for “If I Were A Boy” and Keri Hilson won the Best New artist award.
Janet Jackson ended the show thanking everybody for showing their condolesences to her late brother and for all the fans’ support and love. BET will be airing re-runs soon. Below is a Jamie Foxx reenactment of Michael Jackson and the beginning of the awards.
